Hey Garrtok! You should be happy to hear me reiterate that this is our combat prototype- it was the very first thing we ever did, so that we could be absolutely certain our combat was fun. My focus now is on working with a small team to begin creating an open world- our current playable prototype now has 3 km x 3 km (9kmsq) of playable space (we'll have much more in the end). The combat team is experimenting with some early vehicle controls, some new ways for Jump pack guys to move, and defining our cover system.
Thats no trolling, in my oppinion these gameplay scenses are too much Space Marine and not looking good and iam allowed to post it. @Steven Lumpkin: I know ists a very early prototype, but when i think its not good that way i have to told you that. Since Warhammer Online dissapointed me so much, iam really sceptical about any MMO. Especially the warhammerlore is hard to design in a good way. Dont missunderstand me, i hope you create the most awesome game ever but if there is anything i dont like its my duty to tell you that. Space Marine is a very good multiplayer game, but in an MMO i dont want only those arena fights.
What is wrong with Space Marine? I'm seeing comments like this all over, Space Marine was an awesome game and was only held back by its Peer 2 Peer server system. Space Marine was pretty much how i would imagine an Astartes would fight, the animations were awesome, the hud was informative and the combat was meaty and brilliant, the multiplayer was also fun when you didn't lag to hell. Innovation is nice but isn't always needed and in this case it isn't needed.
it's funny how miss-informed and loud you are, the "arena" is just a combat prototype for testing, pr0 tip: listen/ read more, write less
We already have! The process of making game is constantly taking steps towards what you want the game to be. When we had nothing, our first steps were to make what you saw. Now that we had that, our next steps are to go further in the direction of Eternal Crusade. Originally, we created a combat prototype with the basic core of our game. Once it was working, we packaged it up nicely so we could show it off. Then we took it all apart so we could tweak it again. Now we've tweaked it and added a lot of interesting things, but there's still a ton of rough edges. That's where we're at right now- the game is a lot more interesting and complex than it was, but it's not nearly as nice looking. Someday soon we'll start packaging it all up again so we can put out another video, and you'll see some huge changes.
Iam sorry fanboy. Why they are creating a combat in this way to show the mechanics when its work totally different in the finished game? I know thats only a pre alpha prototype.
