So... why do roll attacks break D-Bash?

yo freindly chaos n ork lover here, brent admited that sprint and dodge attacks breaking through dbash is a bug, also dbashhes current long time wasnt intentional, but a result of them allowing us to move while "charging" dbash and strong attacks, they said they plan on speading it up significantly so no clanging and dodge rolling to safety

Its no bug and its intentional for sprint attacks, but evade attack have the same feature because and i quote: "they have same animation for now"

D-Bash currently seems to clang the dash-attack (which is treated the same as a roll, or evade-attack), but doesn't seem to stun the attacker afterward the way it used to.

The common tactic of a jet or ground assault is to dash-attack you, then fast-attack you again immediately after. If you D-Bash the first incoming dash-attack, and then IMMEDIATELY hit D-Bash again after you've clanged their dash-attack, you'll then D-bash their follow-up fast attack. If they instead choose to Dash-Attack you, then follow up with a Strong-attack, then you'll want to roll out of your 2nd D-Bash before you take a krumpin'.

The problem right now is if they have a fist, bash doesn't seem to stop it at all if you're a non-melee class (or a melee class without an axe/mace).
  4. I think it's time to bring Alexis or Michael chan in and have another melee discussion. There's a lot of misinformation and outdated information in the general melee thread.

It'd be nice to have it all laid out in front of us again. Rock beats scissors while scissors beats paper and paper beats rock. With all these discussions and conflicting info, it currently feels like paper beats rock, but only if rock is small, igneous, and indigenous to the southern pacific ocean. ;)

  7. Because Dbash isnt made to be spammed. Dbash isn't made to be the axis upon which melee combat spins, as much as some may want it to.

The only time you should be using Dbash is versus an attacker spamming fast attacks, and that's it. If a player rolls and you're Dbashing, you can roll out of the Dbash and decide what your next move BESIDE SPAMMING DBASH is going to be.

I know many were spoiled a few months back when Dbash beat everything. Thank god thats gone and now we can bet back to using multiple tools in our arsenal rather than every single melee fight starting off with Dbash spam. The bash is very situational, if you're spamming it mindlessly you deserve to get beat, just as a fast attack spammer deserves to get bashed.

Caveat... the current bash isn't reliably working versus Fast Attack spam. That does need to be fixed. Other than that Bash is great and only made to work versus Fast Attack spam. If a melee opponent is sprinting towards you, dont just start bashing like a lemming before you even know what they're going to do. If you're spamming bash at that point you deserve to get facerolled.
  8. Ok so if the game is built on counters what exactly is one ment to do to counter a lunge attack or a evade attack role away sure that wont get me hit anyway and give the attacker another opportunity to attack again before i finish my evade animation.

Like it or not lunge attack and evade attack should be considered fast attacks and be countered by Dbash especially evade attack, because lets face it neither of these attacks have the require the wind up of Dbash or power attack which makes them a fast attack.

Why should melee get the opertunity to clang on my Dbash then role around to hit me forcing me to role out of Dbash they lost the move they fast attacked a Dbash and should get hit by it but no they can evade attack and turn there fail into a win by either costing me health or stamina.

The game should follow the damned rules fast attack should be beaten by Dbash which should be beaten by a power attack which should be beaten by fast attack because it has a wind up, and all successful counters should be significant.

  9. 1. A lunge attack requires someone to start off well outside of melee range to pull off this attack. At least 10 yards. WHY would you already be spamming Dbash when you only see a player sprinting towards you and they're well outside of melee range? You would be spamming dbash because Dbash was broken for 2 months and beat everything making the "basher" totally invincible to all incoming melee. The lunge attack is specifically built to prevent Dbash spam. If you're spamming Dbash before a players even starts attacking, you deserve to get face rolled.

    2. The roll attack. You can turn 180 degrees after starting a bash and dbash a rolling opponent that comes up swinging. If the rolling attack is beating Dbash then that's broken.
  10. Well, considering there is a 1/2 chance that a melee attack is a fast attack, I would say the bash is useful in a good majority of the situations. It's not niche. Not only that, many players open up with a sprint attack. It's very predictable. They just can't be countered now.
