    The Landlady is a bit of a horror story with the title character having a penchant for Taxidermy.


    Then again, even his children's stories had a touch of horror and the macabre about them.
    The Witches have evil witches seeking to get rid of children by turning them into mice.
    George's Marvellous Medicine is about a boy who kind of tries to poison his grandma.
    And let's not forget the BFG that has Giants that like to eat kids in it!

    Scylla and Charybdis. If I remember rightly ones a dangerous whirlpool on a well used strait amongst the Greek Islands, whilst the other is a monster said to live in the sea opposite the whirlpool.

    So if you were between Scylla and Charybdis you were in perillous waters. Both figuratively and literally.

    Strait of Messina. Similar to how Constantinople is seperated from Turkey by a strait, so to is Sicily seperated by a small strait from mainland Italy.

    You arn't wrong as back then Sicily was Greek, but its not the modern Greek islands.
