Well that's really besides the point, I'm a Chaos fan yes, but I'm a good narrative fan above that. This split across the universe is an interesting development. It's an "oh fuck" moment, not a "we're fucked beyond all salvation moment." It allows for a slow defeat of the Imperium, it's like it's the time in Rome's history where it split into west and east, so it still has a ways to go with one Empire potentially outlasting the other a long time. Which brings us back to Calixis. Dark Heresy and FFG has an extensive background for the region, which is why I'm pleased it still exists in Warhammer lore. Now look at where it is on the map, behind the Eye of Terror with several other large warp rifts nearly cutting it off from both sides of the Imperium, IE, there's a fuckton of narrative potential. Most of what I can see of that narrative potential is the Sector coming under siege inside and out from Chaos. If the Imperium was wise enough they'd see that it's an extremely important route to get past the split. It's now a strategic lifeline. Yet with that level of fuckery cross navigating the galaxy even if they are aware how important this region now is, they may not be able to do fuck all about it. All I know is that for my fanon conquest of the Calixis Sector is not a major priority, seeing as the Warp Superhighway is complete. As for why the Warp Superhighway exists? Well it has something to do with the pylons on Cadia being destroyed. Why the other Warp Storms intensified? Well, Chaos I guess.
