It is a last resort policy... Humans are fucking insane, it is why MAD makes sense. It is what has kept the major powers of the world from having big wars. Also not "we" but us. And no that isn't how it happened, it was all of a sudden people realised if all the large weapons the USSR and America had were deployed then the world would be fucked over even if they weren't directly hit. I don't know if weapons would be made smaller today but the reason for many bombs being fuck off big is because they needed to be so if say a Soviet Bomber was shot down lets say twenty five miles from it's target destination the explosion blast would still be large enough to fuck over said destination.
Then there'd be no reason not to attack. Nuclear deterrents are simple to understand but i suppose you can't grasp such things
Well then. I guess we have to hope that no country with nukes ends up with a complete nutjob in charge.
