Depends on how well they're written, how well they fit into the Universe and Multiverse of the publisher. DC kept having events to fix the history of their Universe, then go and screw it up again by a lack of cohesion across the different titles, so they had to go and have another event. They were having one of these events every two to three years over the last decade or two. Marvel isn't innocent in this. They've had Tony Stark turn evil on at least two separate occassions, then after a while acted as if it never happened.
I disagree on that. Diversity is just another word for variety, so in cases like these it should be a variety of charcters representing a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles. Tokenism is trying to represent variety with as little as possible and empty gestures. I've posted questions that have gone unanswered as well. There are various reasons for it, like the thread moving to a new subject, the person asked missed it, the person asked thinks they've answered and forgets they haven't, plus more besides.
of all things why do you have to quote this, way to dig up a dead horse that hath been beaten till naught is left but meaty bits.
....Well this wasn't what I expected to wake up to..... Ahem lets add some shit to this fire. The White race is the greatest of all races, and all others should bow before it like the good ol days. #Overwatchwouldhavesoldmorewithallwhites Sincerely from a KKK Grand Dragon
Woah woah woah *pulls reigns on Pouncey because he's kinky like that.* let's backtrack a sec. Even "Art" that "has artistic freedom" still needs to pay the bills. At the end of the day developers need your money. Otherwise they go out of business, while they can "legally" do whatever to their product. IT WOULD BE IN THEIR BEST INTEREST to do what the consumer wants and not whatever. If the consumer does not like it he/she won't buy it. Simple as that. The difference between While you're right they that diversity doesn't affect sales DIRECTLY it can indirectly. It 's called marketing and there is a whole department behind it. Making characters more diverse IN THEORY would create a more diverse audience because now they have a character to "relate with". However it doesn't always work like that. "Diversity" affects character relation. Which affects chances of the consumer buying a product, which affects sales. So Diversity (Or at least the way marvel is using the word) Does affect sales indirectly. This is all in theory though. Good catch there. Forgot to mention that. Showing diversity also IN THEORY shows that you are not a racist. The logic behind it is if you were a racist, you would not put the characters you would have. It's a way of getting SJW's off your ass, but yet again it doesn't always work. Roughly it means that you have a vast variety in something. In this context it means having a variety of races involved. Not so much a problem so much that it's not at the top of your list. Quality writing, Originality, immersion, detail, Quality in depth characters, THESE are what should be on the top of your list not how many races you have involved. There is none. As I hope we can all agree on: RACE DOESN'T MATTER So if race doesn't matter, why are they wasting time and energy to make sure they have every race included? HOLY SHIT! the kkk has fucking dragons?!!! must......resist .........temptation to join......
