well don't worry it seems the bigshots who write this crap aren't prejudiced as they are forcing in token black teens wit fros now! are they well written, well no but hell its diverse so you'll buy it right!? You understand a lot of their "diversity" is to attract sales, hence why they cut it out once they figured out it wasn't doing too good. True but when I read a book or comic I don't want them making up bullshit characters for the sake of filling quotas.
What system? Your made up system? A character is a blank sheet until you add bits to it. I don't care what Rokdak or Dokta or whoever else says. A character has no genitals until YOU say so. A creator with an agenda for diversity will make that character saying "I want this character to be X because I think Y wouldn't fit my agenda." A creator without an agenda for diversity will make that character saying "What kind of story do I want?"

Well, to be honest, I play Eldar in EC because they're the only playable faction with a female option. If Planetside 2 didn't let me make a female character, I would never have played it. When we found out Tracer's a lesbian in that comic, well, it made her more interesting to me and I played her more. Symmetra being autistic also made her more interesting to me and I started playing her more. Overwatch having robotic characters was something I really liked. The notion that no one cares about having a diverse cast is simply erroneous. Some people don't care, and that's fine. Some people do care, and that's fine. Having a wider variety of races, genders and other things makes games appeal to more people, purely because people have a wide array of likes and dislikes, and appealing to as many of them as you reasonably can makes the game appeal to more people. When Conan O'Brian's Clueless Gamer series did their For Honor episode, one of the NFL players was trying to decide which character to play, and made an off-hand comment about how they were looking for a character with a little melanin.
Jeasus Christ your making it out to be some sort of moral crusade. it's just simply games companies trying to get you to give them money. They couldn't care less about what the game promotes,mas long as it makes them cash. so yeah they may put a trans-helicopter-scrotumsexual in the game, but only so they can sell more units, not because they actually believe any of the shit they peddle...
It wouldn't be an issue for me if people didn't do things like freak the hell out because Star Wars VII has a black Stormtrooper. The moral issue I have isn't that I think it's morally upstanding to have a diverse cast of characters. It's that I think racism and sexism are immoral and having seen what kinds of changes or reveals cause outrages and which ones don't makes it very clear that there's still a lot of prejudice in our minds.
mfw Okay heres the thing though, I DON'T CARE IF THEY ARE AUTISTIC OR A PERSON WHO LIKES SOME CLAM. If the character is interesting, well written and isn't shoehorned in whether they're diverse or not it shouldn't matter, they're a good character. If a character is "diverse" in a way, but not shoehorned in and well written. Well then sure all the power to you. When I read about someone I don't go "yes this is all good but do they love a good ole dick every now and again?" And most readers are like that as well. Maybe you can connect better if a character is autistic or lesbian or whatever, but quite frankly for most people thats not even something that goes through their heads. Characters are NOT defined by what racial quotas or sex quotas you fill, write them well and try not to be political. Thats all. Now can we drop this conversation now? I'd rather the thread not devolve into cussouts and fighting again as it usually does when we get this political.
why are the thoughts of others an issue for you? dude you need to learn to care less about what other people think. As long as people don't act in such a way to harm you or the society in which you live they can think whatever they want. and nothing you do will stop them, because ultimately you don't matter to them you don't matter to many people because they simply don't care what you think. Welcome to the real world, you're an insect and no-one cares about what you think, just like everyone else.
