Well if they didn't have the capability to tranq that Gorilla, then one of my questions is answered. They shot him dead because for some reason they couldn't use tranquilisers. They could have run out, the people trained to use them weren't on site, or some other reason. Apparently the child in question was arguing with his mother because he wanted to pet a Gorilla and did not want to take 'No' for an answer. Which might explain how he got into that situation. But with the kids life on the line and no option to Tranq the Gorilla, shooting him dead was the only option. That Zoo needs to be put to the question, and take responsibility for any shortcomings. But the kid needs to be questioned and made aware of what he was responsible for, but the authorities may not be able to take any further if he is below the age of legal responsibility (because all kids under a certain age are practically psychopaths, apparently). PeTA sounds like a cross between the RSPCA and those idiots who freed American Mink into the British wilds (where they promptly went about wiping out indigenous species)!
