Yeah, the Precursors were originally going to pass the Mantle onto the humans, but the Forerunners got mad that they wouldn't be the ones, which was why they killed almost all of the Precursors and why they hated humans. Forerunners, baring the Librarian, are dicks.
Problably be a mercy compared to what happened to grevious in the clone wars series (2008) Lazy & incompetent washout villian who comes up with a plan of DANGEROUS proportions only to get his ass handed to him by kenobi and he just runs away like some sort of skrub every single time= No Galactic menace who has combat and command skills on par with jedi council members and can take on at least 4-5 jedi at a single time and wreck their shit= Yes
