So they are going to nerf Melta weapons...

  1. Well if not like a rhino, perhaps an ability to only spawn a predator when a full crew is ready to head out.

Edit: You're going to love when the land-raider is added.

I can be bothered to type "need gunners", don't be presumptive. I say I need gunners and noone comes along, at best I get ONE guy, who ends up juggling the sponsons whilst I juggle the turret and driving.

Predators are meant to roam, you'd never ever have them standing still with a bunch of marines, because they'd be lascannon/melta bait. Predators need to keep moving, and only stop when there are no anti-tank weapons nearby.
People solo drive them anyway, a majority of the time.

Point is: Predators are tbqh utterly useless. They're used at most to mop up forgotten rhinos, stray enemies and only focus on fighting other enemy predators.

They're never fully manned, 2 at most, if you get 3 or 4 you've got an uncommon crew size.

They cannot do anything to most points, aside from pick off some flanking or stray troops, whilst the battle rages around the capture point. Sometimes predators end up becoming abandoned so someone can get out and help cap a point, only to get back and find out it has been melta'd whilst unoccupied.

    Or emperor forbid, the WORST:

The act of using predators as a makeshift transport tank because all the rhinos are on cooldown.
I've seen this happen many times, especially on the fortress.
If there are no points to spawn on, no rhinos around because they have all been destroyed, people WILL use a predator to get from spawn to the capture point, only to disembark with their guys inside of it so they can keep the pressure up on the capture point which the predator otherwise cannot reach.

I'm not talking out of my ass here, these things happen and I've seen it happen, I've also done it myself because sadly it is the most optimal way to use them half of the time, considering they just don't have much usage.

(dont have much usage YET. there is still a tank vs tank map being made, after all.)

  2. Melta's need a little nerf because Multi Meltas are pretty useless by comparison to metla and fusion guns. They all take two full blasts to destroy a vehicle with the extra range not amounting to too much. Hopefully the nerf isn't really bad. Heavy Melta type weapons should be able to destroy a vehicle in two full shoots while smaller melta type weapons should be able to do it in three and a melta bomb should count as one full heady melta blast.

    forgot the point he mentioned...

Vehicle allowed areas...are too irrelevant for most maps...
usually vehicles cannot go where they would be doing most effect....

And 1 man preds are the most common thing.

That's why eldar likes to play along with their tanks...because of the extra mobility, and the fact that a driver has a gun...controlled by him

Meltas need 2 bursts two....what are you talking about? Thing is taticals have melta bombs they put on first.... So it's not the weapon itself but the combo.

  4. Exactly. I see mostly abandoned Space Marine tanks, whereas eldar tanks are always being used.

8/6 would be a huge increase in damage, just look at the difference in damage between a Fusion Pistol (2) and a Melta Gun/Fusion Gun (4).
  6. I agree that the combo is what destroys vehicles but I think the combo is fine. Being a Tac or Dragon that can get up close to a vehicle to plant a bomb and then follow up with a full melta weapon blast should reward you with destroying the vehicle.

The lack of slow down during firing for Fire Dragons and the simple toss out of melta bombs is more the issue I would think.
  7. That's because Eldar tanks are superior in every way. Easy roadkill, can't get stuck, better AV, faster acceleration, and because of all of those points they are harder to melt. Instead of nerfing Melta damage they should have buffed the speed, handling, and weaponry of everyone's vehicles. But you know....it's better to nerf something at it's one job than to improve another aspect of the game.

The only thing melta needed was to be actually effective on players....
  9. Mongobeef Mongobeef Subordinate

It needed tuning down in terms of tank destruction. One person was capable of suiciding a tank by just ramming it and piling out and murdering the opposing force vehicle in the span of time it took to realign and move away. Well except eldar vehicles, which don't have to stop while they can stall the enemy completely.

They best not nerf the Multimelta though, cause that would make it even more useless than it already is currently.

Too bad wh40k didn't have mechanic type troops....
