So they are going to nerf Melta weapons...

There is only one map if you are defending that the displaced spawn is about the same as a vehicle, and even then point C that would not be true.

APC's are vastly superior than just spawning at any point, and games are won by not having your APC spawn limit exhausted and no APC's. So you would rather run from another point to attack another? Sure if you think that is faster than have at, but I assure you in most cases its not.

Spawning a new vehicle isn't the reliable thing either, because with that attitude your side will be out of APC's and your attacking ability greatly hampered especially on the bigger maps.

Destroying vehicles should be a major part of your sides strat, as no vehicles you have then slowed them to foot which can take a long time to get to point, not to include attrition to ranged fire. By the time you get to a point in this method with an organized team you are usually less manpower than you started out.

Then everyone bitches how this game is just a zerg shooter, so why have vehicle dynamic at all. Well I like it the way it is, where vehicles are defensible if you work to keep em alive. It doesn't take a moving vehicle around a point long to drop a load of dudes off, and even then it will be a grouping of them which is usually in their benefit instead of trickling in.

How will reducing melta damage encourage Multi Melta?
They are already very weak def vs melee, slower and can't really dodge to well. They are easy pickings. This I am sure will only do the opposite, which is what we have now as it's rare to see a Multi Melta, and even more so for it to be effective.

The main issue with the old repair packs was that it took so feckin' long to actually do it as one person. Sure you could argue multiple packs meant faster repairs, but literally no one carried them. I've heard one story where a squad did and it made their vehicle literally unkillable.

So while I don't like the auto regen as much it does solve the problem of no one taking repair kits and making an actual squad of repairers create an unkillable vehicle. If I had to suggest a way to fix it it'd be have the repair kit brought back albeit differently:

In order to repair a vehicle all units must exit it. This makes sure no one can man the guns and turn it into a temporary stationary turret. You're gonna have to actually defend the damn thing on foot. Maybe have the pack force people out of vehicles so you don't get any randoms that wanna stay inside fouling up the works.

Once everyone is out a single repair kit is used on the vehicle, the deployment time taking about the same amount of time as it does to resupply ammunition.

Once the deployment is complete the vehicle will begin to slowly regenerate health until it hit maximum or is interrupted. I'd say the rate they plan to introduce of a solid minute of regenerating would do the trick with heavily damaged vehicles. Maybe 30-45 seconds for anything above a 60% health threshold.

During this time the vehicle is incapacitated, much like the effect of a power fist strong attack. It cannot move, it cannot function. It is a motionless block of steel that requires your babysitting until it is no longer incapacitated.

The vehicle is not be allowed to take any damage during repairs or said repairs are stopped and the pack is expended.

Once repairs are complete the stun effect is gone, people can pile in, and they get to blast litanies of fury over the radio while they ride into battle.

And as a final note multiple people using their packs on the same vehicle at a time would do nothing to prevent super speedy repairs.

My guess on how to fix it.

Having dedicated drivers gets interesting for PUGs the moment their dedication is rewarded not only by being an asset to their teams (duh), but by giving a steady influx of XP akin to defending a point.

Also, not to chime in on the eldar hate (no really, I'm serious): if the driver of one faction can fire an APCs guns while driving, so should the rest.

The driver shuriken catapults are just marginally better than the ork horns at killing, though. Actually, as a LSM I'd rather have the horn than the shuriken catapults.

I have a bit of hope that the nerf will impact Meltagun only, making Multi/Vulkan-Melta finally desired option. Catching moving vehicle - grav guns could help with that.

That being said, the driver keeping vehicle alive is getting exactly 0 XP, that's why ppl just abandon the vehicle, as when you kill few ppl, nobody else comes into range (or sneaks with melta) and there's only so much you can drive on.

As for the repair kit, all they need do is make it available only at cap point supply boxes, and not from the back of your APC. This way you can repair once but then need to stop at one of your control points to grab another.

The melta nerf is going to make take bomb pack the go to AV setup, as it will still be far better to now drop two bombs on a vehicle vs trying to stay alive long enough to get enough melta charge on a vehicle. And currently you need one full charge, after nerf I see it being 1+ full charge + bomb.

If they want Multi Melta to step up then I think they need to give it a slight boost in damage, like 8/6.

They need to fix/make devastators more threatening in melee if the MM is suppossed to step up.

  10. If you hear the whine of a Melta or Fusion Gun you have maybe two seconds, max, to exit that vehicle.

If you see a guy with a Melta or Fusion Gun running at your APC you better exit immediately and hope you spawn on the same side to kill them before they get to you. If you don't the APC will be gone by the time you get to the other side.

Here is the secret...its the Melta Bomb that does most of the damage. The Melt/Fusion guns takes like three cooldowns to take out an APC from the Rear.
