Read farther up before you decide to neckbeard the fuck out. Someone said they were hoping the Fire Pike would be a reskinned Multi-Melta, someone else commented "Imagine how people will whine about that.". I said doing that would be utterly stupid and would be broken, warranting people complaining about it. You proceeded to shit your pants over what someone said about someone else speculating about something on the internet.
Also, Fire Dragons can keep up with Predators and Rhinos on foot for long enough to melt them, as I see it the Grav gun is leveling that playing field.
I just want to correct this: if the Pred is moving, the FD cannot catch up to it until it stops. All vehicles are faster than all infantry. So if a FD is chasing a pred, the easiest thing to do is have the gunner pivot the turret and destroy him as you kite him.
If it is already moving yes, but even with the shift boost the Pred takes too long to accelerate to get away in time.
Depends on the distance between the two parties. Anyone standing right next to a tank is going to at least get a partial hit in.
Thats true, but you can't deny the Fire Dragon already has a speed advantage, and Eldar tanks need to get away from Melta Tacs/Devs it is easier to do so
Yup. But melta isn't the only way to kill a vehicle. Just how storm bolters perform MUCH better against Eldar than a Bolter, there are other options against Eldar vehicles that are better. For those just joining in, that's called asymmetrical balance, and trying to beat the Eldar at their own game will often lead to disaster, so the FD will always remain king of the melta arena.
Thats true meltas aren't the only way to kill a vehicle. But if we are using Lascannons you get a nice lock-on warning and also possess the only vehicles that can accelerate fast enough for us to lose our charge up. Same goes for plasma. We have to bank on your vehicle remaining completely still to destroy it. The same can't be said the other way around. The Fire Dragon being better than Tactical at tank hunting...sure. But having the Eldar tanks be just as tough and twice as maneuverable on top of that? Overwhelming vehicle superiority and AV capabilities isn't asymmetrical balance. That's not including the Hawks ability to stun a tank from the air, where JPAs have to slam into the tank, and then most likely be on top of it when it dies.
As I said earlier, I think the Grav Gun will help level that playing field a lot, so I am hopeful that maybe the Multi-Melta will become useful again. Honestly I thinik if it doesn't improve they should get rid of the Multi Melta as an option. Put something else in it's place that could be more useful.
