So in last twitch they said they are going to nerf Melta weapon damage, and I already am pretty confident in what this will cause. Like most games people abandon their vehicles, so it's a undefended free kill. This won't change with the nerf. I have though noticed more games where vehicles have a dedicated driver always moving or being defended or both. This already works really well and you will find that melta have a very difficult time getting to or dealing with a vehicle in these conditions. Everyone complains how they are always destroyed so fast blah blah blah, which is because it is left abandoned or immobile in a hot spot. So the changes coming are going to be nerfed Melta damage AND the most significant change is regenerating vehicles. So I have to ask, why in hell are they making vehicles regenerate when they had the repair kits in at the very beginning. This also makes it a player task to repair vs getting magical repairs like your treads got fixed and your melted engine got better. So for all those in favor of this, I forsee everyone that has a hard time running after moving vehicles will get some damage on it but not enough to kill it. The driver just has to whip around a bit and all repaired. Both of these changes together are a bad idea, and double nerfing AV at the same time. This will also make the Multi Melta even worse off, because they don't have a bomb, they have to get to vehicle without pistol and knife to use his nerfed Melta. The regenerating vehicle is going to make any dedicated driver vehicle invincible as it doesn't matter how much damage you do to it, it will regen long before you can get back to finish the job. A repair kit at least meant someone had to get out and fix the thing making it immobile. Anyone else feeling this? Or is Melta OP and make vehicles untouchable is good?
This makes it a choice between melta or alternative AV weapons, not a clear choice of melta. I highly doubt they're going to nerf melta into the ground and it will still be a perfectly viable option for certain situations. However, right now melta is just the go to choice for evaporating vehicles and even a mobile transport can be stopped by another transport long enough to jump out and erase the enemy transport. Believe me when I say the most effective way to stop the mobile transport is to ram it with another transport long enough to melt-a-it.
So LSM are going to keep their tanks and transports moving huh? I can already predict the Eldar response.... Who want's to go surfing?
I won't comment on the nerf, but I will comment on the concept. I've noticed this pattern as well. We say, for instance: "Hey, we think this ham sandwich could taste a little bit better. Putting a slice of cheese on it would do the trick." They say: "Ok, let us think about this and we'll get back to you." We stand there puzzled because it seemed like a simple request. Two weeks later.... Them: "We've fixed your problem! We added mayo and pickles! The mayo and pickles add moisture and the pickles have a sharp flavor a bit like cheese! Isn't that great?" Us: "We told you that adding a slice of cheese would do the trick. What is this warp fuckery you've performed?" Them: "But don't you see how our way is SO much better? We've given you MORE than you asked for! Us: "You gave us more than we asked for alright, but what you gave us isn't even REMOTELY what we asked for." Them: "Oh, we know, but we also know you're gonna like our way SO much better and it will fix everything." And it doesn't. It makes things worse and we go through the cycle again, with yet more weird ideas piled on top of weird ideas, with nothing ever really getting fixed. It's exhausting.
That is actually possible with LSM and chaos already, been there, done that, just don't ram or passengers might fly.
The vehicle repair kits were too easily abused. Lets say you have a vehicle being shot. You could stand behind said vehicle and use kit then restock your character. This let you have infinite repairs on a vehicle. The current system requires your vehicle to be out of combat for a bit before it even starts to repair (and they said it could take upwards of an entire minute to get back to full health)
and this is why i am going off these devs and this game it has sooo much potential but now has such a limited timescale to make said 'things' good otherwise the players are just going to say fuck it and walk away and i for one am close to this
Hey now ,we both know what the forums responce to this will be.But dont worry Orks/LSM/CSM will still pile their vehicles in the same spots. And they will still be destroyed because the zerg is inside a point. Farm will go on...
All this will amount to is a few more seconds for a melta to kill a vehicle, giving defenders a chance to keep their vehicle alive. I don't see how that is a problem at all. That's exactly what people were asking for actually so this whole comment on developers not listening seems ridiculous. It might not be the solution you personally would have preferred but it has probably been tested and not just thrown in at random.
