Hmm, since sigs are a thing now I feel like I should sig it to remind the devs that the eyes of the world are upon them, the hopes and prayers of 40k loving people everywhere march with them.

    No pressure or anything. :D

In all honesty, why do you care about care so much about how one person chooses to view your game? I know it's part of your job description or something you chose to do in order to not have someone pull other players to their side, but with this mass of users zealously defending the game, I think you're safe.

There are some of us here who, for whatever reason, still believe that gaming companies won't try their best to milk us to the last penny whilst feeding us lies (myself included, which I find hilarious due to having several years of work experience with high profile developers and seeing their rotten behavior) due to actually caring about this industry and its products. It pains me to see so many people that once loved what they did only carry on nowadays due to greed. I'm not talking about bE, I'm talking about a good percentage of teams inside the industry.

I agree that people should not give a rat's ass about where other people's budget goes. Usually. And by usually, I mean when it doesn't affect us all by dictating the general direction in which games go (see past vs present difficulty of games debate, lots of casual and/or uninterested gamers joining the market and forcing developers to pander to their tastes if they want to earn money). The problem with those that have too much disposable income and choose to throw it away on false promises only strengthens the fact that developers don't actually have to work on something interesting or revolutionary to get their money. And you can't blame them, cause everyone wants to eat, right? When you're a small studio and see everyone else spending millions on half finished games, buying into the same piece of crap for 10 games, loving shallow gameplay and story you kind of want to flip the table and go "Why should I bother? I'll just make the same stupid product and they'll all buy it". One by one, once respected and thoughtful developers have gone down that path because it's not worth getting angry about it and just go with the flow. Then, on the foundations of what the old members built (Blizzard, Bioware, FromSoftware, aso), they gather a fanbase, make a fortune out of it after firing everyone who worked on those projects and significantly ruining the user experience. Sure, the old, diehard fans will leave, but does it really matter that much when all the "newly recruited" fans just heard about the "next best thing", are too young, ignorant, have too much money to bother researching and spend ten times as much than the ones who left? No, it does not when you're only interested in acquiring assets.

My issue with those people and the reason why I even bothered posting is that there's no excuse for being a douche to someone who's knowledgeable and simply states that he was right, even though it clashes with your opinion on a product. There's also no excuse for being ignorant in an age where everything is a few clicks away and just accepting every kind of bullshit that a company wants to pull. Even whether you're swimming in money or not agreeing with someone's point of view (who is objectively right, by the way), acting like a neanderthal is unacceptable ESPECIALLY when most of the people insulting that person don't even know what TPS stands for or the average length and stages of game development.

As for the developers, I really want this game to succeed, I really do. I've stated it multiple times back when I was still posting and I'll say it again. I appreciate the initiative although surely I wasn't alone in believing that the whole single server thing was just wishful thinking since there's no tech possible of handling that amount of people with no latency in a shooter. I'm also well aware that full open world is not an option since it would murder anything that's not NASA's supercomputer (as an experiment, there's an old indie RPG that's open world without transitioning and loading screens, try running that and you'll have a laugh). But, please, for the love of Khaine, don't lie to us and don't just take decisions without announcing them in an official post. Or, if you want to go that route don't mislead us with be true, be fair, be transparent. Although aware that is was highly unlikely to come to fruition, we still don't like being promised something and not getting it, it's just how the consumer mind works (I'm pretty sure you know that). And when that happened, we might've ignored it, have we not been fed PR bullshots. @Oveur Nathan, you have a lot of experience with this, I'm sorry for saying but there's no way you couldn't have known what Miguel kept saying when every website and their mothers interviewed him asking the same questions and he kept repeating the same answers. There's no way the basic direction, engine, gameplay, shading etc. hasn't already been decided and you'll only bring improvements or remove features as it clashes with your schedule. There's also no way the FAQ just got updated over night without any of you guys noticing. Please, I might not frequent the forums as much as I once did, but don't insult me with those kind of excuses. I'd rather you be honest and let people choose whether they are still interested in the project than having to quell an uproar every time things like this happen. We're showing you respect and we'd like the same in return.
  3. Ok so Im a little late to the conversaiton here and as much as I want to read the previous 48 pages Im not going to do it. So what the fuck is going on?

Eternal Crusade isnt going to be open world on launch anymore, nor will all the continents be playing on 1 server.
Each continent will have its own, EU, USA etc.

  5. What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Im having difficulty wrapping my brain around this. I was promised open world and one server. Now I guess we are getting a lobby and its broken up by real world geographic boundaries? What the fuck are they thinking. I dont understand. Why break up the playerbase, why cant they build a continent like planetside? The fuck next they are going to roll out a mobile phone only version of eternal crusade. Get this shit on your iphone only. I dont have a fucking iphone and i dont really want another fucking lobby fucking shooter....!!!!'!!!!!!!!!!!L!!!!!!!

No, it won't be lobby shooter, it will like pretty much every MMO out there, it will have zones that are parts of 1 big continents. The difference is these zones will connect and make the world, this world then may get made into a real open world like Skyrim.
  7. It wont happen. Game company wont support some half assed effort for very long and players will bleed off really fast. if you dont get a open world at launch its never going to happen.

Wait, you even listened to what Nathan had to say, he needed test, real test to see what he can do. So you will know it happens when it happens. And they have solutions in mind to connect these zones, loading screen, transparent loading screen, I don't know, but they will still connect to each other and this makes no difference if you have played any MMO before. Basically you still can travel from 1 zone to another and don't have to go into lobby to "find match".

@Djemo-SRB Slightly offtopic but are you still keeping track of how many U-turns Eternal Crusade has gone through? I've kind of lost count.
