  1. I have not read all 44 pages, so this might have been said somewhere earlier.

BT do not worked beside psykers and do not have psykers of thier own. Yes, THIS was said and many said they can live with that. However, if anyone has played Deathwatch tabletop rpg, then they know the BT's ability to spend 1 fate point to effectively become immune to all psychic powers and then their chapter ability to the godsmack on demons and psykers make the incredibly OP in certain situations. This has been issue with my gaming group before, lol.

Which is odd because I remember the Codex saying they await the day their psykers return or something
  3. 1. Screw that retconning garbage fluff.
    2. It said that in regards to the possibility of them having lost all their psykers and thinking that was the Emperor's will for them. If they don't have psykers because they still hold to the Council of Nikea, then they're only waiting for the Emperor to return.

Thats what I thought when I read it.

  5. I'm definitely not a fan of them changing the hating psykers fluff, but it upsets me to no end that now we're the only chapter that worships the Emperor. In several novels there are plenty of chapters that worship him and in the novella "Blood and Fire" by ADB, Grimaldus(our High Chaplain) says that we don't. The codex writers pulled a Ward and blatantly ignored previous and better fluff.

  6. And... this has to do with the background exactly what? It is a simple gaming mechanic, and is not reflected in the background in any way. It exists only for this unique game. So, lorewise, it doesn't exist.

I think it's much better to have Emperor worship a rare thing (in Space Marines) than something unique to the Templars because it shows how much the Imperium has changed since the Crusade.

The reason they're not in is obvious. The game cannot simply handle so much awesomeness. It would make all the other chapters look bad and that wouldn't be very nice now would it?

  10. And.... " Abhor the Witch, Destroy the Witch - The Black Templars' hatred of the mutant and the Warp drives them into a rage in battle. Should their enemies' ranks include a psyker, they will rush to vanquish him with renewed effort. Their hatred enhances their will, making them highly resistant to psychic abilities." via http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Black_Templars . So mighten be , lorewise, it does exist, champ.

I guess I could have also explained a little more in that post, as well. It was said in a sense that everyone looks at the big picture (W40k online and the w40k universe) and isn't pigeon-holed in the small picture ( I wanna be a Black Templar!).

You do realize the Warhammer Universe (fantasy and 40k) is based off a "game", correct? Lets assume you do. You do know that games have game mechanics, correct? Lets assume you do. So this lore is based off a game.
As the game grows and expands (granted that it is successful) so does the lore. Which comes first? Lore or game mechanic? At this time who knows? Back in the day, probably the game mechanic. The sudden "burst" of lore has come from the incredible success of the Black Library and then the computer games and RPGs over the mini-game.

Regardless, you can be certain that MUCH if not MOST of the lore came from game mechanics and ideals. In order to sell more minis and add to the variety of 40k , new races, chapters, craftworlds, warbands, etc.. were created. Did the lore come first? Or did special abilities and concepts come first in the game and then lore was built around it? 20 years ago's present is today's lore. Today's present is lore for the future. What is printed in a game can become lore. What is written in a novel could change a mechanic in the game (game being used loosely for all that is 40k be it table top, computer, or mini) later on.

So when I said "However, if anyone has played Deathwatch tabletop rpg, then they know the BT's ability to spend 1 fate point to effectively become immune to all psychic powers and then their chapter ability to the godsmack on demons and psykers make the incredibly OP in certain situations." That can become a solid in lore. Who knows? Reading the above entry in the Wiki, it would appear it already has.

So when game producers look at the BIG picture of game development, all this should be considered. So what happens if they bring in the Black Templars? Right now, everyone is willing to give up psykers to get the BTs in. But eventually, when psykers dominate, and the BTs have no counter, then they call on balance, then they call on lore, then they call on resistance to psychic abilities, the ability to godsmack daemons, the fact they have roughly 6k marines so therefore should have 6x as much resources, and then....

I love the Black Templars. They are indeed bad asses, hence the reason so many scream for them. But from a game designers stance they could very well be "OP" or more difficult to implement into the game at launch.
