I dont think the differences between chapters will be game breaking. But I do share your opinion Brother Tyrannus.

I, in the Chaos Space Marines, Support the Black Templars inclusion into the game. Mainly because I can't kill them if they aren't.
I know the whole BT thing not your guys' fault and that it clearly has to do with GW or their sales, so I gave up a while ago on seeing them in Eternal Crusade. That does not really bother me anymore. I'm excited for this game for so many other reasons that it's a small drop of sadness in an ocean of awesome. But this statement (which I assume actually comes from GW and not Miguel) has no tie to reality. GW wants us to pay $40 for a Tac Squad and then ANOTHER $33 for the upgrade pack when we could easily convert them for a LOT less money? That simply is not going to happen. Some of us have a hard enough time as it is affording this hobby without being asked to basically buy the same squad twice to have our favorite chapter. This is the reason they don't sell well. It's not because Black Templars are unpopular (the whole notion of that is insane), it's because we have to pay so much to get our models. Dark Eldar had a similar problem for several editions where the general consensus was that they didn't sell well so were not updated. Then they were, and LO AND BEHOLD, they sold like crazy and are still quite popular.
I want to play as a Black Templar too. I have faith in the future, perhaps Emperor´s Champion as a hero class. Meanwhile i joined Dark Angels.
