..that really everything seems to be pretty ok. I checked it last night around midnight CST and every land mass was pretty close to 50/50 with LSM probably being the lowest but still not as small a chunk as usual. Eldar didn't fall off really much at all either as they weren't necessarily owning continents before the patch hit. So does this mean the game is balanced? Not sure, possibly it is. Is it balanced in a way that makes gameplay fun? THAT is a good question, one that perhaps need more time to observe. Maybe it's just a matter of every faction cheesing the best now: Eldar are balls deep in DA's with Warlock buffbots CSM pretty much unchanged except less Raptors and Sorcs are cowering in corners now LSM have found the God King Tactical class and gotten the Bolter porn they've craved for so long Orks....well I dunno Orks are just being Orks man. They feel the same.
I think part of the reason could be because of how much harder it is for the assaulting team to take points now. I don't have many games under my belt for the new patch, but every single one of my games last night my team dominated on defense and got completely shut out on offense. Assuming an even distribution of attack/defend roles per faction that could heavily skew the results to look balanced from a win/loss perspective. Not stating that this is exactly what is happening, but based on my experience last night I think it's worth considering.
Chaos are basically LSM in this patch. Aside from having a ranged healer. They are using more heavy bolters.
It's worth noting that while ending at 50/50, CSM vs LSM started off yesterday with about 2 territories in LSM control.
If I wanted to play Overwatch I'd play Overwatch. (I die to bolter fire faster than a Fist ever killed me outside of surprise butt-sex heavy attacks). Joking aside it's not as terrible as many make it out to be but I do think we can all agree the pendulum has indeed swung to the Ranged side now.
Balancing is still being worked on, aside from the recap today c nothing new) they should hopefully address the biggest issues we've had
Faction mechanics balance hasn't been as much of an issue except for a few weapon outliers like autocannons, plasma cannons (back when they were shooting deathballs) and Painboys being meh. And aside from LSM having the downs winrates were 55 Eldar, 57 CSM, 57 Orks during the last patch. And LSM clanplayers were able to stomp DLB and play competitively on Twitch streams. What I'm more concerned about right now is class balance. It's funny to me that they took the bother to collect all these statistics regarding winrates, class utilization, points per match, kill-death ratios, global kill statistics and percentages, and then they proceed to ignore the vast majority of those statistics. I just hope they're watching the global statistics right now carefully while they roll back some of the worst excesses of this patch. It was obvious that from their UAT playtesting they were getting too small of a sample size and confirmation bias, but the live data will be supporting that changes are going to continue to be necessary. I'm not sure why boltguns got 20 free penetration when they were not underperforming at all. They're going to have to justify the new statistics and I hope they aren't just going to cover their eyes and do this:
If they do an updated KD ratio report I really want to see a report to correspond with it showing how OFTEN these classes are being played as well. Having a 2.0 KD on a class only represented by like 5% in games played is completely different to having 2.0 KD when it's a class played 50% of the time.
