The groupings of the Aspects and how they operate on the battlefield will be the only similarity to the SM/CSM, we will have cappers, Dire Avenger / Fire Dragon, we will have support, Warlock, as for heavy and assault well only the dark reaper fits the role of heavy with the swooping hawk being semi in the heavy role (the las blaster is far superior to the las gun) longer range weapon than all other aspects bar the reaper, with some exarch las blasters being up there with heavy weapons (sun rifle im looking at you), grenade options anti-infantry / anti-tank. so yeah I can see the swooping hawk falling into the heavy battlefield role, just with a lot more mobility and less damage output than the dark reaper (depending on situation, as a well placed grenade can cause a lot of suppression / damage). The Striking Scorpion and Howling Banshee both covering the Assault role. As for possible longer range Avenger Shuriken Catapults, or any shuriken weapon for that matter the Style of the Shuriken can effect range / damage without changing the Catapult itself, you could have disks that are heavier (more damage / longer range / lower rate of fire) just for one example.
In the last twitch, did Brent not say that they were playing with the idea of ground assaults being able to cap points? which would make the Eldar super cappy.
he was refferring to LSM ground assaults ... since the CSM version of ground assaults is actually a traitor variant rather then an assault variant, which would give LSM/CSM both 2 cappers .. the same way that DA's and FD's give Eldar 2 cappers
But then we are back to square one: Eldar have 7 classes and will have relatively less cappers than the other factions.. since DA and FD combined give us "tactical" performance: shuricen weaponry & fusion weaponry vs Bolter, Plasma, Melta If "ground assault" gets to cap, Banshee should also get to cap (to avoid the striking scorpion capping+ stealth issue)
I would say the Swooping Hawk can't really be classified into one of the 4 basic classifications, it's its own thing, a Skirmisher unit. As a primarily non-Eldar player, I imagine a well played one will be a huge pest, like a murderous mosquito.
I'm actually not sure I'm opposed to Striking Scorpions capping any longer - but it depends wholly on what their Stealth turns out like. For example, if they have pretty much full stealth (even just while stationary) - then they are a big problem and they can't cap. However, if they have a recognizable shimmer effect - then it would encourage our opponents to sweep and clear the cap to find the scorpions: I think that's a legitimate dilemma that scorpions should create - they're going to be annoying, but they are supposed to be.
I don't get it Eldar want more capping units? You guys know everyone else has just gets one right? You're getting two Everyone else: 1/4 units are able to cap Eldar: 2/8 = 1/4 are able to cap Giving any more additional units capping abilities would be giving the Eldar an advantage before they're even implemented.
I swear I will pop a blood vessel if the Orks end up being severely underpowered and outclassed due to additional nonsense.
Essentially brent mentioned that SM/CSM ground assaults might have the ability to cap. This being the Eldar forum, where we can only speculate on rumors and equivalences- naturally we started thinking about what this would mean for the eldar assaults, who do not have jump packs.
