space wolves don't need no stinking apothecary, there are 3 other chapters that have them anyway. give us a scout
I'm all for differences in sub-factions, much of the time it's the differences that make them interesting. I say let them specialise the sub factions, then the issues can be sorted out during testing, if something is too OP than it can be changed, this is what testing is all about. SW need a Wolf Priest, if you don't know why than you don't know space wolves.
They're as rare as chaplains/apothecaries are in other chapters. After all, every space wolf was brought in to the chapter by a wolf priest at some point, so they can't be that few
Blood Angels don't have apothecaries, they have Sanguinary Priests which are in a way like a second type of Chaplain. Without getting into the specifics, they're HQ units special and unique to the Blood Angels the way there's Wolf Priests for the Space Wolves. Or a Warsmith for the Iron Warriors.
Following on from Valteron; it would also not be the 1st or last time a little bit of fluff was removed for a better game play experience. With everyone else being able to be res'ed or get heals, you'd not want to be at such a disadvantage. I really hope that Wolf Priests & Sanguinary Priests are named as such, I'd hate to see "BA/SW apothecary" as the actual in game class.
Everyone seems focused on nitpicking among loyalist Space Marines, so I'll be the guy to bring this up- I read somewhere that the developers would like to allow the Chaos Marines to devote themselves to a specific Chaos God, but the Word Bearers are super-strict about making sure everyone is aligned with Chaos Undivided. There was a bit in one of the books that went into detail about how the Annointed (Word Bearers' Terminator division) are allowed to be somewhat aligned with Khorne because that's beneficial to their role, but even that's barely tolerated and seeking favor with a specific Chaos God is grounds for torture and execution. So my question is, would the Word Bearers be unable to gain favor with a specific Chaos God if this mechanic is implemented?
what if all apothecary are hero class, do we even need all that many? did the devs talk about auto heal or do we need medics to heal and what other skills they will have?
Apothecaries should be a hero class.I have the same concerns about why they "need" to be the fourth basic SM class.Leave SM's to the 3 basic trooper classes (or add scouts), why add a forth class, by bending the lore... Since Eldar Guardians are somewhat confirmed as NPC's, I expect scouts will play the same role (as guards, garrison, etc), so that's the reason they don't appear as 4th class I guess... Sniping and stealth mechanics are in, so no reason to not use the scouts as 4th class, other than the above... Oh, for the Wolf Priest basic/hero issue...Bren said they are working on a solution...Why it was not taken into account before the basic class list was revealed...that's another thing. And on original topic...I'm sure the differences between sub-factions are not only cosmetic, and I'm sure there are people around that can quote dev's on the subject...how this will not lead to min-maxing, is probably the issue we should be concerned about.
The devs have said that sub-faction abilities will be situational ...but i guess we will have to w8 untill beta.
