That would be pretty cool, actually; would kind of conflict with Harlequins though, if they're going to be implemented.
I don't think so. Harlequins aren't noted for stealthy ambushes. They are more like kaleidoscopic shock troops, who can sneak around if they really want too.
The fact that someone performs ambushes doesn't mean another one can't. Striking Scorpions can't be too slow. If they are, they couldn't catch their prey. And they're Eldar, that makes them quick if nothing else. The only slow unit should be Dark Reapers. They carry heavy weaponry and their armor is built for stability. Striking Scorpions on the other hand are shock troops. They need to get in an enemy's face and tear it with their chainswords. Also, they should have a short range mandiblaster attack, but how the devs are going to implement it is a mystery. Will it be a short ranged stun or a regular shot? No one knows at this point. On a side note, Harlequin grav belts would be so fun!
Striking Scorpion should be the best "in your face" melee. If they appear (like the Predator Movies) in your side and youre anything but a terminator, you're history). They have armor as powerful as marines, strike as strong and strike first. They should not be "in the open", thats more Banshee, but they should be master of close quarters to the lack of any significant ranged ability. They should be as fast as a Dire Avenger and as tough as a Fire Dragon, and just doing significant damage in melee. Their approach way is by stealth. Thats cool since both Banshee and Assault Marine values spaces where they can maneuver. When you have a direct line to one of them in a corridor, you have advantage cause you can bullet them down before they can come close. The Scorpions is the opposite. They dont like to be in the open, but in corridor filled fortresses where they can sneak around and appear at the side of that Heavy Bolter, thats their job. And to me all the fun of the world should come from the Autarch, were you can mix various abilities and aspects, even if just for 1 spawn
Well, let's look at real life scorpions 1. They are well armored 2. They have a powerful sting that they only use against large and unwieldy prey, but otherwise use their mandibles 3. They use ambush tactics to hunt their prey, though some prefer to just straight up chase it down and eat it 4. Birds eat them Now we can give those attributes to Striking Scorpions! 1. Good armor 2. A powerful attack that has a slow recharge for vehicles and tough opponents, but otherwise use their chainsword and pistol 3. They prefer to use ambush tactics, but can just straight up charge enemies if they need to 4. Vulnerable to range/jump assault
Striking Scorpions are the most heavily armoured out of all the Aspects, overlaying and interlocking plates, they have enhancements to there physical strength which is incorporated into there war gear (not the elder himself), The mandiblasters are their poison sting (I am looking forward to how this will be incorporated in game) maybe some kind of stagger effect when hit with it or the like (although this may be OP) they are just as fast as all other aspects on the ground bar the banshees, and they are stealth masters. I love Striking Scorpions my favourite Aspect warrior by far.
How many OP threads do you think will start when Striking Scorpions are release ? By far my favorite Eldar unit.
