I see no reason why this option shouldn't exist, it's there for Devastators boot things, for example. I think it's also likely they'll try to sell the tabards / loincloths to us, so I guess you could just not buy it if that's the case.

Meanwhile, Dire Avengers in DoW3 have blue armor with white accents and different shoulder color pattern, loincloth and cable on the ASC(which means they use actual ASC instead of guardian inferior version).
