Its because our fast attack isn't as good as our power attack on choppa blades. Now if we had a rmb spam to victory weapon like powerswords we'd probably rmb spam like the SM factions do.

SM knives are nothing against choppas no matter if one is spamming fast attacks or stong attacks, and every feral boy knows it. So, why would one not to use strong attacks against tacticals, it's a good choice obviosly.

But once orks meet jpa or shield bro with power sword, they literally have to think how to defeat that RMB spam attacks, simply because orks currently losing clangs and dbash not working some times.

I would like to see a system with skill involved.

I question the second part, as I never really did. They were, far as I could tell, subject to the same rules, hell I think my choppas power attack might of been faster then the power swords wind up.

  5. Other games do melee very well. This isn't one of those games. Develop to the strengths of the IP. Large battlefields. Fluid battles. Actual battle lines. Arena horse beating isn't doing it justice.

What choppa exactly are you talking about?

The preset Choppa, which I believe is the basic one, though I could be wrong.

I was krumping lsm boyz all day, they have the same rules just really high penetration. Power klaw really didn't care though and many lsm toys were broke that day. Also for some reason more tacticals bothered to defense bash me than any assault units, was kinda sad to notice that.

This is the part I don't understand and is why melee in its current form got pushed out. People didn't like that it was a never ending stalemate in the Alpha... However they quickly rushed it to the RPS model because they needed a quick fix and so they could keep moving fast with development. So it never got asked a serious question: Why does melee need to be over so fast?

In my view it really doesn't. Games like Dark Souls or Chivalry sometimes have really long duels. HOWEVER those long duels end up only between pro players. A pro vs a complete scrub, the battle is over in mere seconds. There's just no contest and the pro player will have a massive score. They know how to time their strikes, where to move, how to position etc....

But in EC none of that really matters because of the RPS and lunging. There's also constant flood of people spawning in on your point and friendly fire so it just feels awful. The only reason people want it to be over so fast (so it seems) is so melee players can collect their kills and duck away before anything bad happens... Which shouldn't be encouraged at all. So yes, a better melee system needs to be put in because honestly RPS is NOT working. Its really not. If you have the same weapons you just clang forever and D-bash doesn't relaly do much. Its slow and easy to dodge. Power attack spam lunging is also cancer but that is all because you have this awful auto-lock on system which you MUST use because everyone wants the fights to be over so fast for no reason.

SLOW THE GAME DOWN SON. It doesn't need to be Call of Duty dual p90's fast paced. It needs meaningful cover and actual ranged combat with maps that make sense. Currently a lot of the map space gets unused cuz all we need to do is get to the Cap Point. They said they want to do more to give ranged more chances to fire back, but from what I heard in the twitch stream is just going to be firing lanes where you can now mow down players... So not very hopeful.

Ranged classes need to be able to survive melee confrontations IF they are better and smarter. Right now with the lunging system, you can't dodge away. You can't block, you can't clang, you can't melee attack back or stun them. Nothing you do works and it just delays the inevitable. All because some kids wanted the melee encounters to be over as fast as possible so they could collect their kills with 0 skill required and feel good.

That is why we have this garbage system that we have now. Melee classes don't need a lock-on and they don't need spam. They need to think about their engagements and it should be the classes that require a higher degree of skill.

Anyone can pick up a gun and use it and be decently good. But it should take a slightly better player to be good effective at melee. Currently this is backwards in the game and melee is the go-to for all derps who want a high score easily.

It used to be a much more skill dependant speciality. There were patches where JPAs basically had to drop from ledges and cut people down because a frontal assault was suicide. Need *some* more of that.

But have to check you on a couple of things: RPS has been around for most of the Founders program (Bash arrived in Sgt's wave methinks) and the discussion over melee combat duration was a constant debate throughout. You're right that it's far too quick now. Any good non-Heavy player should be able to counter a bad Melee player. At the very least stall them for a lot longer. It can't be a long combat if the 2 are equally matched: Strategic loadout wins.

I wasn't around for the last part of the EA, people told me it was pretty dire for melee classes so the fix was to gut Tact classes. Really going back 3 months where we had Evade Attack cancelling Bash was where the system went silly. Long long fights, dancing around and 15m lunge attacks. I thought those specific issues would get attention with minor tweaks. What we have now is predictable, inevitable, short and shallow. The meta is absolute balls primarily because of the low skill cap ceiling. I'm sad :(
