To keep this response short, here's a review I wrote covering just the first chapter of his original book. He got worse after this, much worse.
In part. He started it (or at least wrote an entire novel heavily suggesting it the entire way through) but apparently Graham McNeill liked the concept, and a few implications showed up in his Horus Heresy books. They were less blatant but they're the better known examples. You're welcome.
I know someone at BL, an Editor on the HH books, who says that the suggestions in A Thousand Sons that are read as being about Blood Ravens were not actually about them but about something else.
Well yes, but there should be loose ends with the Thousand Sons, exploratory fleets and such that didn't come home in time to be betrayed. If any chaos legion would still have a loyalist offshoot, they would be the most logical. But the statement itself has to do with their bloody fate, I definitely don't think it was meant as a nod to the Blood Ravens, thou it does make for an easy dual meaning.
Few people know who Goto is, or how bad his writing is, because: 1) How many people actually read "godawful" novella which tie into video games? (The Dawn of War novels and their terrible btw and have Goto's name blasted all over the front cover of each btw) 2) How many people outside our whitewash of Spess Mahreen fanboys actually ever bothers to pick up a novel related to the Eldar? He didn't write any codexes (thank god) and mostly wrote bad tie in novels. The guy had an obvious weird fetish for Eldar and presented them in a fashion akin to elvish sadomasochism. In other words an elf torchure fetish. Now I say "elf" because he clearly didn't understand the difference between Tolkienist fantasy elves and Eldar and presented Eldar Females as submissive damsels in distress trope, as opposed to powerful alien psychers who have zero interest in monkeigh, as they are in cannon. And that's just the tip of the Iceberg. Multilasers anyone? Also the Eldar worshiping Slaanesh crap, that's his fault too.
If it makes you feel better, Slaanesh ate Draigos soul....or Epimethesus soul, and made them bend a knee, but I prefer the Draigo interpretation. Regardless, at least the Grey Knights can actually fall instead of just plowing through everything.
Ah CS Goto the guy who apparently thinks a 7-8 foot tall spacemarine can walk 20 miles in 1 hour. Or thinks Spacemarines should be able to make babies with Eldar (Gabriel Angelos and Macha). There are just some boundaries a writer should really never bend or shatter even if its a Fantasy Sci-fi.
