So I tested this 1.3...

  1. You'd think having a shield would help but no. I'll walk up to some Tactical lighitng my shield up until I'm right on their toes and as long as they haven't run out of ammo and keep firing if I try and swing on them(from point blank) I'll still take an entire armors worth of damage and generally a good chunk of health before that swing connects and stops their shooting.

    God help me if my Armor was already shanked off from something else when I try that. Shit's painful haha.

    This. I've started fights at POINT BLANK from people and died. Charged Attacks are basically impossible right now, you FA or die. And that leads to a very obvious counter: D-bash as the default reaction to anything approaching you is back on the menu.

    And they made it nigh-impossible to roll out of Dbash too. So Stamina is back to being useless again. And good luck breaking anyone weapon before you get Dbashed.

    But yeah, TTK being so low on this game is ridiculous. I could make a whole thread about how all the issues on this game are exacerbated with a low TTK.

    • Melee can't reach ranged, are ambushes classes now. Basically play as a Striking Scorpion or be your teams cannon fodder.

    • Ranged is mostly decided by who shot first.

    • Alpha damage on some weapons means you die before you can react (AC problem all over again, looking at you Stalker).

    • Despite the nerfs, the low TTK got AC back on "This is a problem" list. The only difference is that it has a lot more friends on that list.

    • OHK weapons are all outclassed now. Why spend 3 seconds charging a OHK attack if I can do that in >1 second with a Bolter.

    • JPA's have been relegated to "Noisy distraction". I'd rank them as "Less annoying than the Servo Skull sound".

    • Supporting is a bit of a wasted slot. I played several rounds as one and despite everyone citing doom, they die as fast as anyone else - which is to say they die as soon as someone gets the first shot. My main issue was that there really wasn't that many people to "Support" since almost everyone that engaged in a fight either came out alive with 100% health or was obliterated before his fallen body could hit the ground. Just "Hurt" people are quite the rarity nowadays.

    Not liking the new TTK. They had this back during the beta (alpha?) and everyone moaned about it. We're back to having a too short a TTK.

    I agree about the difficulty to roll out of dbash spam. It's still possible, but you must play on a server under 100 ping and be lucky your opponent isn't quick.

    However, a lower TTK emphasizes tactics and positionnal :
    - Melee must flank or attack distracted opponents by the rest of your team to safely reach melee range. More map awareness and teamplay.
    - Ranged fights are influenced by position and anticipation way more than before. More cover use, more map awareness. Not being able to retaliate is normal if you put yourself into a bad position.
    - OHK weapons has been outclassed for a while now. OHK are useful for area control and anti-blob. Both were nerfed because of saltears.
    - Git gud with JPA. I easily get 20 kills with it on this patch.
    - Support classes have multiples ways to support (It's not even just about heal) and it's also depends on your teammates : if they go head first without checking, they send themselves off to death.

    A lot of people cry about low TTK, but high TTK is a recent trend considering the history of gaming and esport and only came with stupid casualisation. Call of Duty 4 was excellent, had a TTK <0.5s and it was way more than "the first guy that shoot wins".
  6. I can in general agree with this statement. The problem is now one dies so fast to ranged guns it's way too difficult to get in melee range. Or playing support.
    The difference between armors is gone and playing Slugga with eavy armor feels the same as Light Armor: ranged deals so much damage you really perceive half a second of difference.

    I'm ok with painboy not being a killing machine... but that was perfect before patch 1.3. Now you cannot show the face through a doorway to throw a Dok Bomb that you die to bullets. Sikky Bombs are less viable because health nerf made teamkills even more likely (imcluded killing yourself if enter your oen toxic smoke).

    i'm pretty sure you have no clue what you are talking about in what regards support classes?


    Heal feels pretty useless during fights.
    At the most, you can recover fast after a fight....that is for those that surived the whole 2 seconds of war

    I think this dev team just needs to admit they have no idea how to make video games. I'd be happy if they came out and made a statement like that.

    I'm honestly so fucking done with BE as a company after this. How this patch got past testing is beyond me. Did they even truly test it at all? How did nobody see a problem with this on the test server?

    Honestly, what in the fuck happened?

    Lp costs are just way too high on some things while certain other items are just useless. I mean 15 hp on a painboy isn't gonna keep him alive. Trinkets giving 1 armor....wtf is even the point of it existing when it will literally do NOTHING!?

    TTK at this low rate kills playing tactically than anything. While it's good to get players to actually think about where they are at this point the only good and viable tactic is grab a Tactical or a Heavy, find a spot, point and shoot.

    JPKs can't survive long enough to flank or spearhead, dying in mid air if not before they even jump.

    GAs with armor can't either at this point and even if you do get behind someone, you either have to have a Pfist or a modded PAxe/PMaul striking them in the rear because all it takes is 1 second of shots you down you.

    Supports can't survive being touched now and those who are stuck with melee oriented ones are even more screwed (Wolf Priest, Warlock, Sorcerer, Painboy). Seriously an Apothecary with a boltgun is the way to go because you will NOT melee someone to death anymore unless the enemy is NOT PAYING ATTENTION AT ALL.
