I'm at least going to appreciate that Eldar are getting their long-ranged capability. The Hawk weapons are peashooters, and the Reaper Launcher needs work. Woop. And I'll probably play Dire Avenger if they get a good DMR/long-ranged option.
Unless I can get some new info from here or this Fridays dev stream then it's just going to be an elite class with a stalker boltor variant, yes elite. Hopefully we can learn some new stuff like Eldricth did with the Shinning Spears
To be fair, that's never going to happen. A longER range weapon, or mods to increase the range of their weapons a bit more? Sure. They're never going to have weapons that reach out past medium range at most though. That's kind of the point of how EC is working around DA's. I mean, I could be wrong, it COULD happen, but it's unlikely that it would be anytime soon, or at all.
Honestly the Ranger should have been our stealth base class from the start, not like scorpions are melee brawlers apposed to assassins.
From what I heard through the grapevine, they aren't, or at least that's the rumor. They're getting some variant of the SC that just has increased ranged (think Hunter's Mark I guess?) I understand the frustration but, I'm not exactly sure stealth units running around with Sniper Rifles is the best move. Especially cause the only way to balance that would be to gimp the Sniper Rifle itself so we can't pull off OHK headshots with the current stealth mechanics. Which of course...would cause more discontent. I think the way they want to do the Ranger isn't bad, as long as they do it correctly. If they will though, who knows.
The reason they didn't is likely because.... 1.) The cloth clothing and animations and such 2.) Sniper rifles, and the shit ton of balance problems there would be with that and if they would even be feasible in this game 3.) Eldar needed another Heavy Aspect for balance I bet 4.) And perhaps someone on the dev team liked SS more than Rangers, who knows.
For the sniper rifle point, a few things that would balance the rifle: 1) They have 2 second charge time 2) They have a 2 to 3 second cooldown between shots 3) Shooting auto breaks stealth for 3 seconds 4) Shots fire tracers 5) 1 shot headshots and 50% health on average to torso (Orks cheat) 6) Headshots only down no outright kill, even pre plasma was more abusive and easy than this... 7: lack of mobility and ability to reach high places gimps camping spots, not like it would be impossible anyway with tracers For the class itself 1)100 armour, 60 toughness 200 health 2)Shuriken pistol 3)No knife, fights like a heavy 4) Scorpion stealth counters? any melee rusher in existence? JPA can I frame headshots like nothing, and close the gap in seconds, spot the tracers and then prey like a hawk Storm Shield counters frontal shots completely Orks can't be headshot from many angles and even then headshot resist. How can this not be balanced?, this is more balanced than the Plasma dev in many aspects and ways and offers counter play, oh yeah they can also cap but stealth is disabled during the animation. Gimping an entire faction out of medium to long range support honestly should be a crime lol
It's a little different than something that can OHK from across the map consistently, can likely OHK even up close (quick/no scope), is likely incredibly accurate, and will likely end up on a stealth unit.
