I could see sniper rifles being long range semi-auto harasser weapons rather than the bolt action headshot beasts they are in a lot of games. Less people would play them if there's no OHK headshot but so what? This is warhammer, it's a melee game. Snipers would be stealthy recon units suited to pinning down a flank from crazy range, and could score a lot of kills if they set up correctly. They could even be hitscan to fit the whole lazer deal.

Hahahaha ok, yes, the tau are an exception. Still not sold on the idea of widespread OHK weapons, but tau rail rifles should pack a serious punch. We'll have to wait and see what the balance on them will be until the game is out and they're ready for post launch content. I'll be psyched to do a little for the greater good myself.
Grots would seem to be the "sniper" class for the orks considering they have the higher BS. I am sure that Chaos has SOME type of "scout" unit in their legions or warbands.
If we're talking simply OHK weapons then yeah, sure. However, very shooty capable armies; -Tau (duh) -Imperial Guard (gunlines and TANKS) -Eldar (what's that, 2+ cover saves? RAGE) -Marines (Big guns, big armour) -Deathskulls and Bad Moon Orks (Bringin' da best dakka dat teef can buy) -Tau (So many guns they get mentioned twice) -Imperial Guard (CREEEED!!!)
Yes yes. Lots of guns. My argument was more along the lines of, the game having a melee element, it requires a longer Time To Kill (TTK) than twitch shooters so that people can get into melee range without getting shredded. The longer the normal TTK, the more powerful a OHK weapon of any kind becomes, especially at range. Having rows of snipers isn't a big deal in planetside or battlefield, but in EC it'd be serious.
Orks get the Shokk Attack Gun! Who needs a Sniper Rifle when you have a BFG that fires grots with the chance to teliport you onto your opponents!? That's assuming we get the Shokk Attack Gun... I'd be happy to just get the Deff Gun and Big Shooters to start with honestly.
