heu guys, I ended up in a duel with an LSM tactical today. He kept d bashing, even through my heavy attacks. This is all well and fine, I guess his DBash was too fast. Problem is he could hit me each time before I could roll away or whatever.

I dbashed him back, he stunned, and I tried a quick attack with my elektric Choppa axe and he rolled long before I even hit, 2 seconds almost. Not to mention with a shield my slugga did some weird stupid follow up which left him completly open to get downed.

Any suggestions? Do you guys just not bother with DBash for Slugga w/ shield?? Or am I doing something wrong ?

After some testing in the Garrison with the Dead Shiny Bit, our unique 30k box shield that's the Stormshield equivilent, I learned two things. Melee weapons do damage them, if they're blocking. Which, as the raise shield button locks on, they should. The Clubba, and the Sparky Clubba destroy it in about three attacks blocked. (The klaw manages 2.5.)

The best ranged weapon to use against them accessible by all Ork classes is the Zip slugga. One full clip will just barely not break it.

When you block a Dbash with the shield, it does stagger you a little but you don't actually get stunned, so if you pair it with a roll, they'll be a slight delay between it and the stagger but you should be fine.

Ork Dbash is pretty much the slowest, so It's likely that. I've pressed to Dbash and my chars just stood there getting hit and acting like i didn't press anything which is very annoying when I'm on a melee class.

Lag also has a big part in orky melee. Often I seen rps violations left and right that I can just chalk up to latency issues. Like when a knife beats a klaw in rps with the wrong move 4 times in a row >.>

That tends to make me pretty damn irritable.

I have a few hundred hours in the Ork slugga boy shield and it was what I played almost exclusively for an extensive period of time through several content patches.

I've noticed many issues with the shield, hitboxes, hit detection failing against both melee and ranged attacks, chain-staggers with no way to roll.

I have however never noticed it affecting my RPS with my main weapon at all. I long since realized that blocking with the shield in melee was useless so I have a fairly good idea. In close combat I play as if it's not even there.

D bash has always been buggy and has been acting up on my non-shield toons. Maybe that is your issue. Try doing it without the shield. High latency also does not help. Normally I get around 130-150 ms latency, but I have seen spikes over 400 today, with people teleporting around. Check your ping on the scoreboard. Bear in mind if the network has a delay of several hundred milliseconds, that can actually impact hit detection, as it will show on your screen as if you have started the defensive bash animation, but the server may not have received that information by the time it receives the hit animation from the other player's computer.

I've sorta decided this as well..I just dodge attacks by rolling to the flank and I attack again. The d bash hardly works, and I've almost decided to get rid of the shield but it's nice to have when I'm being shot at by some marine. I can usually get right up to striking distance and down them half the time.

But yeah, you're right. In melee the DBash is somewhat worthless. I ha don idea the latency was such an issue. Hopefully that gets fixed In a patch eventually!

I never said the d bash was worthless, I said the shield has dubious hit registration, bugs and other issues in blocking melee attacks.

I use d bash all the time.

    Ahh ok gotcha.

I play with ~100 ping and I can honestly say, my successful Dbashes actually stun a target only 10% of the time at best. The other 90% they clang off and roll away and hit me before my dbash actually finishes. Between that and our horrendous animations that are infinitely worse than the marines, Orks basically shouldn't have melee at this point.
