Dawn of War style? Have something be on the planet that is extremely important to them to the extent no one else can get their hands on it. Or possibly a Living Saint could have a vision and is extremely unflinching in her objectives, even of it is at odds with other Imperium forces.

Well technically, at the time the Blood Ravens WERE being lead by a heretic, also they're just a minor chapter. We're talking about the Ultramarines! The Imperial Fist whose recruiting world is Terra itself!
  3. Dyne Dyne Cipher

Living Saint it is then. Just have her be there doing her own thing and not caring about collateral damage when it comes to accomplishing her goals. So they'll not be out to fight SMs because they want to but more like they're doing it because they were in the way.
  4. Considering the zealotry to the point of psychosis that comes with the Sisters, this is pretty believable

    In other words:

    BITCHES BE CRAZY!

The reason they were on the planet is not because the ravens were heretical, but because they felt the warp storm and the mass betrayals by the imperials on Kurova 3 was an obvious sign that the entire system had fallen to corruption.

Keep in mind that the Sisters are utter zealots, and will gladly kill a person if they believe it is the Emperors will.

That does depend on the individual order the. The Order of the Sacred Rose is tactical but also zealous.

The reason they were willing to participate in the cleansing of Kaurava, which they lost BTW, is fairly short logic.

"We're here to cleanse the heretics, the warp storm shows almost everyone here is probably a heretic, they don't measure up to our standards, oh you're stopping us from cleansing? Then you're a heretic."

The logic makes sense when taken in the mindset of a zealot.

So if they believe Arkhona to be tainted, and everyone fighting on it to be tainted, then they will gladly purge them

And there's always been a measure of tension between the Ecclesiarchy and the Astartes, because the Astartes are one of the few orginizations that remember the IMperial Truth, which in the modern era is heresy. They're mostly not preachy about it though, so they rarely come to direct blows, but the nature of their worship of the Emperor as the GREATEST MAN and PSYKER rather then as a GOD.

That would be Anathema to the SoBs, who even by Ecclesiarchy standards are pretty freaking faithful.

OP: I too would love to see the sisters of battle, but I can understand and actually agree with teh design choice to focus on the core gameplay now and the four factions first before adding more in.

:) Remember adding even a single thing isn't linear man hours, its exponential!

What I would really love to see in the PvE continent (or zone) is ally NPCs. Space Marines conquer an area from Tyranids, and Imperial Guards/Sororitas NPCs come to secure the locations. It would add to the sense of epic scale, and really reinforce the power of the Player Characters when a Chaos Marine is capable of defending a whole zone that two squads of cultists couldn't. Or Space Marines saving a detachment of Sororitas. Eldar saving exodites, etc.

That might be a nice lore way to slowly implement the other factions as well. They get dispatched to Arkhona to aid the war effort and at first they're on the frontlines against the tyranids as NPCs. As the campaigns progress, heroes rise from the ranks of those NPC units and are the player characters.
  7. hey this is a crusade anything can happen, and the longer the game goes strong the more will be added i mainly want to see the lore and how it affects 40K on a hole, so just a battle cry to all those in the game you want so see more faction bring your friends with more people means more profit for the game makes means more expansions and time they spend making sure we have everything we want to be happy and it means more WAR

The difference between the Space Marines and the Sisters belief system (and main point of strife) is probably summed up perfectly between the Catholics and Cathars of the Albigensian Crusade. I'm sure that unless you're French maybe 1% of you have probably even heard about it, but it pretty much came about from the difference that:

A.) Cathars believed that Jesus was Purely divine, an otherwordly, supernatural being of absolute perfection sent from the heavens to wipe away the vengeful god of the old testament.. not necessarily that big of deal but the first religious war in history was once described as a conflict between whether two groups of powerful people in the Roman Empire believed Jesus was a mortal son with divine properties, or a divine being sent from on high - so wars have been fought over for even less...

B.) That the Cathars also believed that salvation could be achieved without the middleman of the church... which was probably a way bigger issue.

So in essence, all that is required is a difference of belief and a question of their authority. And you know who does that best? Space Marines, chief among them, the Space Wolves.

All that's required for the Sisters to launch a full blown crusade against the Space Marines on Arkohna is for them to catch wind of some heresy and/or have some zealot of an Inquisitor have paranoid delusions (I'll let you imagine where that influence could come from), become dead set on eradicating these chapters who have become too powerful and influential in the Imperium, and wam: New separate faction on Arkohna - possibly even with Black Templars. ;)

  9. Lore-wise the Sisters' Orders and methods can vary as much as Space Marine chapters do, so some will be more zealous/crazy and prone to turning on their Imperial allies over religious issues while others will be more pragmatic/sensible and will put religious disputes with the other members of the Imperium on the sideline as long as there are Xenos and Heretics around.

Gameplay-wise it depends if the devs will opt to have a huge Imperial faction that shouldn't fight itself or have many separate Imperial armies that can possibly come to blows with each others. It will take a lot of time before new factions are inserted, so there's time to think over this issue.

I'm personally all for DoW style fighting myself.
