... and supporting a melee player in particular. Please for the chaos gods sake dont shoot at an enemy when a melee player is in a fight with them and you can't get a clear shot on them. Youre hurting your teammate just as much as the other. And if you use a plasma or melta weapon please take it and stick it right up your rear end. If you want to support a melee guy shoot at the foes aiming at him instead. Don't lob grenades if you see there's one of your melee guys either. And raptors, please don't slam down on a melee duel. You'll stun your teammate and possibly kill him if hes low on health. I personally will forgive a lot of teamkills, sometimes it just happens. But in cases as explained above, blindly firing into a melee engagement or slamming down on one I will not.
Personally, I'm okay with it when I'm in melee, or if another player is, as long as the numbers are worth the sacrifice. If I'm surrounded by 4 players, I'm much less likely to survive anyway, if you drop a Plasma Cannon x4 charged shot on us, or a bunch of grenades, and take them all out with me then I consider that a worthy sacrifice. If it's 1v1 or even 2v1 and you do it though, yeah, I'm not going to be too pleased. The worst for me is when I'm melee'ing a Rhino, and an ally drops grenades at my feet instead of going to the opposite side to do it, that's just stupid and rude.
Bolter or stalker bolter and ONLY if you think you can aim well enough to not shoot me in the arse. Or better yet... DON'T FETHING HELP ME!! Seriously... I've had more success winning a duel against a raptor with the butter knife than when a team mate tried to help me. One asshat even used a charged plasma cannon to 'help' me. "Thanks mate! Now could you kindly scrape me off the wall? Cheers!"
I agree with everything EXCEPT the ground slamming of your friends and enemies. Because "Its not from where the blood flows, but that the blood flows." Learn to Khârn bro...
then stop having knife-fights in the middle of a shooting war lol it cuts both ways, I've lost count of the number of times I've been "freindly stunned" by windmilling melee players trying to "help" me or steal my kill (never sure which it is) now days I just stand back and wait until the melee player is killed and then shoot his attacker
Teamplay is something which feels very rare within the game, but what to expect when playing with randoms and strangers? (the raging can be amusing to look at when people throw tantrums due to hot passions). This game (the website) says it's a tactical squad-based shooter but I feel that people seem to forget about it and play it like Planetside 2 (which is rarely about tactics, can be - sure, but I'm thinking more about games like Sqaud and ArmA - in games where teamplay is absolute important). I mean, I haven't seen one single player that's actually bother clearing rooms/chambers before committing to the task (whatever it'll be revival of a team-mate or trying to secure the objective), so far all I've seen is rushing lone-wolves, I hope that is something which will change in the coming months.
This is really true, I've lost count of how many times I've had enemies approaching and started gunning them down or prepping a big plasma shot, and an ally runs out right in front of where I'm shooting and either dies or gets us both killed if it's plasma. It definitely cuts both ways, and if your allies have a firing line set up, don't jump in front of it just because you want to smash some skulls, because it weakens your team because your allies can't shoot through you. As for team play and tactics, my hope is some really solid guilds come about, that do run with almost military precision. I think it would be pretty fun to be part of or lead a squad in that environment, and I imagine far more effective than everyone just kinda shooting or stabbing in the general direction of the enemy like often happens now.
As an Heavy Bolter devastator, I swear to the Emperor I REALLY try not to mow down friends and allies. Asking people not to shoot into melee is about as common sense yet not followed as me asking folks to not walk in front of me. Especially with all the lag and high pops on small maps, collateral damage is a given in the fast paced game. Personally, I am careful when shooting into melee (sorry for the suppression), but most of the time if the adversary wins the fight, their next target is me, the big fat slow devastator. It's self preservation that I get a little more involved with melee than meleers would probably like.
I dunno, it depends on the situation. You kinda have to go with your gut when you are with random people. If I see two melees engaged in combat as an tact/apothacary I will shoot. I never execpt my ally to be a competent player, that is not an insult that's an insurance policy to make the best of a situation. Furthermore I don't know the skill lvl of the enemy and always assumes he is better than me. Will I blow up an ally with two or more enemies if it means it can give space to cap/intercept a point? You bet I will, and I reccomend my allies to do the same. Going a bit kinda off topic: sure the game in it's current form does not have mechanics that really promots squad play. Even if you had that there will still be players of large amount that won't care/want/are afraid to work with a group for whatever reason. You can't dictate how people should spend their free time. By far it's best to be apart of a clan for these kind of games, I intend to sign up for one myself when warparties finally get's rolling.
I died so often to this. Melee goes down, I've got a handle on it. Team mate wades in swinging like a goon, interrupts the animation of the attack I was using and stuns me, my melee foe has reacted to my animation which then stuns me and at that point range foe or range friendly or both takes up arms and shoots me dead. Took a while to adapt but I just roll out the way as quickly as possible now and pick another target. Good luck to the team mate who, as you say is trying to help/steal kill but I do not want to be stunned at any point, in any way in this game.
