Hi guys, It's a growing trend: siege defenders tend to break their own doors to secure their tickets. By doing this, they get their door tickets transferred to B. To me, acting like that is an abuse to the game's mechanics and it should be prevented but it's only my own point of view. What do you think about this ?
It is a sound tactic. Life expectancy is the best at B point, medium at A point, and the worst on the wall. So by transferring wall lives to B you win the match. How can you blame people for wanting to win? Loss is even more shamefull, especially when you didnt do all you could to win. Now, if you simply lost those lives when the gates broke, you would see one-way meltamen dropping down with the rain of krak grenades to stop the siege tanks. I completely agree that would make the match more interesting rather than simply race to B.
I saw it one day ago. Played two games one aghnatio as eldar attacker against marines. Two bitches with multimeltas destroyed both gates and then whole team sat on B with 200 respawns. Pretty lame. I guess Devs should disable friendly damage to the gates or make a penalty to transferring lives like 50%. Opinions?
The developers know about the problems with fortress gates. It is up to them to change them. Defenders breaking their own gates is a good thing in that it makes implementing a solution a more pressing matter. Hold the line maps like Zeddek already work in a way wherein any remaining lives on a captured point are lost entirely - that works.
LOL, well, straight strategical looking: good idea, never thought about it. Looking at the gameplay perspective: Even if it possible within the mechanic, it is NOT something planned or wanted, so it has to be disabled. (Friendly fire can not destroy gates.)
For real. Gameplay-wise it is, but it makes no sense: you shouldn't win sieges by opening your gates...
Simple solution: Change the layouts of the B-points to be less cancerous so the abovementioned tactic makes no sense. I might be biased here, since I hate Fortress Defense but it would seem fighting for control over walls and courtyard is much more logical (and fun) than the entire team sitting in one room for 10 minutes and camping the entrances.
No, its an abuse for which I'll instantly start a votekick for whoever did it. That's still an abuse and pure exploiting, because its NOT to be in defenders hands to control whether the gates are destroyed or not in any other way then killing ordnance and opponents melta bombers. Hence redesign of gate and how the lives transfer behave is needed. However until that happens, its still an exploit.
