It depends how they plan to implement their role? Tho giving up the obvious advantage of an attack bike is to brake lore. If there where 9 different vehicals like someone suggested before, 3 slow vehicals, 3 medium, 3 fast, 1 of each could be sidegrade. But yea AB-bike or AB-LS are probably better to compare, but F2P/P2P AB are optimal comparison. I recall Miguel saying on the last livestream that when the beta is out, if the players (after trying the sidegrades) decide they don't like having them behind a paywall, they would change the model. Not exactly this, but something on the lines. So I wouldn't worry. This game is made for us, and they have been taking note of all the feedback we've told them, and made many changes based solely on the community. WE are shaping this game. I wouldn't worry at all. Be true, be fair be transparent.
It doesn't matter if the believes that. If the community says no to pay-sidegrades there won't be any in the final game. That's my point.
I'm half through the video, I'm still not convinced by his examples and he is not talking about if you could consider that sidegrades like heroes or different vehicles should be a part of the base game and they are monetizing them instead, for me there is no difference between a single player game selling you DLC day one and having to pay to have all the hero classes or vehicles day 1... I will take his word that if we show him how an item gives you a clear advantage they will change it. Again, I'm not against them selling stuff, in fact I would like them to sell every single item, hero, elite or vehicle in the game to skip progression, but taking them off the base game that cost 40$ should not be acceptable.
He also said they would change anything based on community feedback. You just have to vote against it, and if it's that bad, it will be changed.
Thanks for doing the interview Cosmic & Miguel, for me this has solidified my agreement with the premise of premium sidegrades, as Miguel said in the interview "You can pay $40 and not have to pay to unlock any gameplay elements for the rest of the games life", so everyone is on equal footing. Now that there is also a confirmed vanilla attack bike i see no real reason for the paywall argument.
Why is this "paywall" argument popping up so much? Isn't this whole game a "paywall"? You have to pay $40 to play the game. Why is no one complaining about that but paying $5 for an Attack Bike variant or a Bolter variant is heresy? Even if it moves/fires differently I'm sure within the next two plus years they'll find a way to balance everything. So, taking away balancing factors (aka its not P2W), you're complaining about locked away content? Well sorry new players, we're going to be waiting two or more years and some of us are paying a lot more for these items because we believe in this company and their idea. The launch players can enjoy the same game for $40 and wait a little longer to get their extra content. I'm not trying to be mean but I'm just a bit over people trying hang the developers out to dry for basically setting up a free market system. WoW has content that is locked away behind card codes and I don't really see anyone complaining about that. This is not a new thing. You pay the developers money, they give you things they made. I know this can be a scary concept if done poorly, but I'm giving Behavior the benefit of the doubt. I highly doubt this is some cash grab scheme. Lets just watch and enjoy the beginnings of something that might be pretty cool.
