My first skitarius. He doesn't have a conventional color scheme because he depends of the Iron Warriors, he's a part of their Pneumachina, the covenant of Mars priests permanently attached to them. Thought it would have been fun to give them a new scheme ^^
I assembled a Veteran Sergeant recently from various leftover bits, and some bits bought from the FLGS. This one is named Brother Sergeant Liquid, of the Raptors. The Cloak is from the Space Marine Commander set, except recasted in Resin so that I can mold it and bend it as I please. His colour scheme will be Olive-drab armour, with light green highlights, and a Swamp-camo pattern cloak that is a weblend of browns over ork flesh, with sparse black stippling.
Holy shit, I recognize this army! It's from a Tournament Iron Hands list that I saw like 3 years ago. Wow, where did you get this group?
Yeah, the previous owner sold it via eBay. He apparently got screwed over by people on the first few attempts so it was discounted by a bit, and he did a pretty good job with the paint work. For the most part all i've been doing is touching up bits and pieces on the models and trying to improve some fine detailing on the Iron Father and lascannon armed marines. Well, that and get the other bits which are being added up to the same standard.
It's a good army. The whole thing totaled up to 1850 in 6e, but went down to 1835 in 7e. You would probably do better to swap out the riflemen dreadnoughts for Plasma Cannon Dreads with the CCW, which would decrease the cost to 1805, and give it a bit more portable anti-TEQ, which was what the original list lacked. From there you can spend points on things like storm bolters on the tanks, and combi-weapons on the sergeants to improve its mobile effectiveness. Consider taking either combi-gravs or Combi-plasmas for them too. It's still nice and competitive too! Every unit has upgrades that matter, and they all support each other quite wonderfully. 7e made some changes to how certain things worked, but it held together nicely.
Started with my crimson fists yesterday evening, got the first 10 primed, basecoated and washed still needs some clean up and highlighting, yet i still have to find a proper paint to highlight. Probably going to drybrush them instead of edge highlighting, to give them a more battle worn look Wanted to go with kantor blue, however the shop was all out of that colour so i went with a different paint. Imperial blue from vallejo. First time using that brand and i must say, i loved it. Oh yeah also looking for crimson fists decals, as i have only 5 of them (thanks to a sternguard set). Though i need arround 30 :/
check eBay or other players for extras. They come in every marine box, and mine usually sit and do nothing. They don't have my chapter/legion on them. You can also order a totally Crimson Fist sheet that has a ton of different sized ones.
