Finishing up my latest creation. I added to the superstructure. Out of the box the Dread looks very plain and not ready for combat. You read of all the advanced Vox and Auxpex scanners on Warhounds and Knights, so I added my own. I also added smoke canisters and a maintenance and targeting Servo Skull. The pilot has a knife and Bolt pistol added to his harness for close encounters or if he, Omnissiah forbid, has to abandon the Machine. I also added praise to the Omnissiah and to the Machine Spirit of the Engine, with an Oath of Moment to the Machine that sits atop the Mechanicus banner hanging from the pilots harness. In the back of the Machine is a miniature shrine dedicated to the Forge that built the Dread, located just below the Forges stamp(COG) located in the center, bottom. Once I finish the stand and get this bad boy mounted I'm starting on my GK Paladin Termi squad.

Looks good. I think Nids are always at their best when they're rocking that OH GOD WHY ARE THERE SO MANY COLORS ON THAT BUG thing that you sometimes get with exotic rainforest crawlies. You nailed that with the wings on the flyrant.
As a fellow Daemonhunter I applaud you, sir. Mine is an 3rd-edition-y infantry list (I have a DK but haven't ever gotten around to assembling or painting him) but you've given me some ideas for bling if/when I ever get around to making them more competitive.
The key is a light spray coat, it actually doesn't add much thickness at all. especially with matte(dull). and if you have more painting to do after it dries it keeps you from rubbing off the previous paint you applied.
Oh, I see! That is exactly what I did, added a thin clear coat, but then I realized that there are still some small smudges and what-not that would be nice to paint over. Nice to know I can still do that without screwing it up somehow.
