Should There Be A Ranking System

    Capturing objectives should definitely effect rank. Maybe not directly but there should be an obvious stat for when promotions are given out.

  3. If we're talking like a battle rank sure, If we're talking for things like War Council or Company Captains then god no. Those positions should be based on recognized community merit not how much you farm.

    I didn't explain very well. I think there should be an easy to find statistic based on how much objectives you captured, how well you kept your team alive, etc.

    War council and higher positions should definitely be from the community. I think it would be useful to have battle reports though. Like a soldier's service record. Those would be looked at when considering a promotion in 40k or real life.

    Murtag, don't you think that community based promotions would be on the verge of being a popularity contest not saying this in all instances, but seeing it in games like wow for position or party leaders mostly based on how many mates you have and how good your gear is which would kinda be pushing aside up and coming wanna be strike force commanders or future wc members and whatnot. Love the idea of battles reports of players battle stats thow.

    my post listing ranks was mainly for an example set of possible LSM/CSM ranks,

    I did not intend that all such ranks would be included or possible, though I would like to see some of them implemented purely as "accumulated xp markers" or "skill progression markers" which would designate/show a players "rough" relative level of in game experience,

    for example..using the list I put forward,
    we'll ignore the ones I listed as not being within the EC framework as we understand it at the present

    Marine................the basic rank a LSM/CSM starts out with

    Specialist............perhaps unlocked by achieving a classes "skill tree" progression to a particular level

    Sargeant.............perhaps unlocked by achieving all classes "skill tree" progressions to a particular level, or perhaps by accumulating x amount of XP

    Vet Sargeant.......perhaps unlocked by achieving all faction classes "skill tree" progressions to a particular level
