It's still too early to say if Eternal Crusade will be a success or a fail, but I think it's also too early to release a founder's program. Like everyone else, I was really hyped when I first heard about Eternal Crusade but it's just not safe to drop $40+ on a product if you haven't seen the product. For example, you're not going to buy a car just because of what you hear about it. You want to see the car and test drive it before you spend money on it. Sure the price difference between a car and a game is quite different, but the same principle still applies. What Behaviour should do is have a free beta so players can get a taste of what Eternal Crusade will be like. Whether the beta is restricted to 100 players per day or open to the whole world doesn't matter people can still stream and post on YouTube what the game looks like for those that are unable to play it. Near or at the end of beta is when a founder's program should be launched. Following the launch of the founder's program should be early access. I don't know what the amount of time should be between launching the founder's program and launching early access just as long as it's a descent amount of time for Behaviour to fix the game up so it plays better in early access and so more people can learn about Eternal Crusade and have a chance to purchase a founder's pack so they don't miss out. Also, there shouldn't be rewards for being a "beta player." Being able to play the beta is a reward in and of itself. All special items/customizations/titles/etc should come from the founder's program or be purchasable somehow. Sure it's a letdown that Eternal Crusade wasn't at E3, but that's ok. As various people here have said, a lot of developers don't release gameplay vids and trailers about their MMOs until they've done years of work on their games. Behaviour has only been working on Eternal Crusade for about a year and is a lot more open about information and I'm sure they'll release gameplay vids and trailers the first chance they get. However, releasing the founder's program at such an early stage isn't a good idea. Thanks for reading and please vote! (Even if you vote yes it's ok I'll still be friendly to you but please be serious.)
if you don't care about alpha/beta, you can wait jan/march for the modules or you can wait for middle 2015 for the "open beta". it's a pre-order with benefit.
Buying into any kind of project really takes a leap of faith and probably isnt for the faint of heart. Fact is this game could be a complete failure and you can watch the money that you invested into the project just disappear. So if this stock market/gambling style isnt something you like to do then you can wait till the game is released and read the reviews and then decide whether or not you want to buy. Personally I really think BE is focused on this project and they are despearately working for EC to become their magna opus. If the devs can follow through on their promised features this will definitely become a tremendous money maker and a source of company prowess and pride for years to come. And because I choose to believe and I am a tremendous 40k fan I will help support this game by purchasing the largest founders pack that is available.
99% of the time when a game company announces a new title and gives you the option to pre-order they'll have released a gameplay vid or trailer and for those that don't they at least still give you time to pre-order after they've released a gameplay vid or trailer. Do you know if it will be the same for Eternal Crusade? Because I know a lot of people myself included don't want to purchase the game when we haven't seen anything but at the same time don't want to miss the pre-order.
Sorry I hate to be rude, but our votes won't change the fact it's being released tomorrow. They already announced it was gonna be released on the 25th a long time ago.
Founder's Program = Leap of Faith Thats the point.... I believe BE will deliver so they will get my $$ tomorrow as soon as it is available!!!
there is 2 pre alpha video, numerous screenshot. many fan that have played the game (simply send a mail go to montreal and you can play). IGN have atleast 1 hour of gameplay (that they don't release) tomorrow there is the final version of the trailer showed at E3. tomorrow they realase a "mockup" gameplay video.
Two problems OP, first, I saw Eternal Crusade at E3, I don't know where you were. Second, since you and I have access to the same amount and quality of information, due to the transparency of the project, I don't think you are in a position to judge when the Founders Program should begin or not. The people we trust to determine that, aka the Development team, has decided that the time is right, and I will trust them to make that call, as my 25+ years of painting and playing the tabletop has not left me qualified to make decisions about the PC game industry. T
It's ok and I know I'm not expecting this thread to change anything Behaviour does I just wanted to make a poll to see how many people are in favor of the founder's program being released tomorrow. Personally I think Leap of Faith = foolish. Back to my car example no one would ever buy a car until they've seen it, inspected it and test drove it. If I have to first prove my loyalty to Behaviour and have a "Leap of Faith" in order to receive the pre-order goodies then forget it I'll take my money elsewhere. Now that's interesting I didn't know there were videos being released tomorrow. I didn't even know they had a video at E3. Kind of strange I can't seem to find it. Are you referring to the teaser with the Dark Angels? Anyways, perhaps what I'm saying will be obsolete tomorrow and that would be fantastic. I look forward to seeing these videos thanks for the info! 1st. I don't live remotely close to where E3 is held. You're the 1st I've heard that said they were at E3. Even if they were it must have been just to chat with fans because I don't think they released any vids or trailers at E3. Grigdusher said they released a vid at E3 but I'm thinking he meant the teaser trailer. 2nd. I'm not judging anything and I'm entitled to post my ideas and opinion this is the forums. 3rd. Unless you have some license or official document that says your experience makes you qualified to make decisions about the PC game industry and post a picture of it I don't care who you are or what you say. That's pretty rude to say "I have experience so I'm automatically right and you're wrong." But as you said, it's up to the Development Team and hopefully they'll make the right decisions.
