it took a long time to get heavy weapons to this state, and barring 1 or 2 specific weapons the balance works fine, the thing is about heavies you throw grenades and they explode due to being braced on a wall, or flank and charged melee. wouldn't you rather new content than existing content rebalanced for the 69569695959th time?
Ehhhhhhh. The counter to heavies is not supposed to be more heavies. It's... kinda cool, I guess? to have Reapers or Lootas walking at a snails pace into an objective supported by healing, suppressing their suppressors, but I don't think I've ever seen that in a game, its not very, ahem, fluffy, and I don't think that's the way the game is intended to work. The counter to mass heavies is supposed to be mass JPA or Howling Banshee (which has on the go suppression) or striking scorpions or swooping hawks with Hawksears and sunrifles (also on the go suppression) to break up heavy bolter nests. The problem being these classes die in a hail of gunfire from an unbraced bolter all while being suppressed and unable to return any modicum of fire. There's also the possibility of sniping heavies, which is viable for all but one of the factions, and is a reasonable counter that I think should be in the game, but unbraced heavies isn't really a problem for snipers, it's the braced ones that suppress you and kill you anyway if you get spotted. I agree that you shouldn't be able to duel an aware heavy, but you should be able to take out unaware ones that register the hit, turn towards you and start spraying. Often, with unbraced suppression, you cannot finish the kill and you are killed in turn by the HB's allies or the HB itself. Even if you do manage to down the heavy without dying, it usually doesn't result in a finish unless the HB player was completely alone, due to how long it takes to land enough shots on target to down when being suppressed. The current issues of the game encourage heavy bolter nesting and the solution is not heavy bolters and its boring for all involved.
Being forced to compete at "rifle" range due to spread and the ammo inefficiency it results in is punishment enough.
I agree with most of what you are saying but nerfing heavy's isn't the answer, buffing melee is.Also being suppressed as a melee is irrelevant. Getting killed by a braced heavy that you got the jump on from behind sounds like lag to me.For him to have time to unbrace turn around re set up and fire is to long for him not to be dead by even a pistol or knife.Hell I've killed whole heavy gun lines alone before they can react many times.
Perfect game balance achieved after 4 years of nerfs and changes made because everyone cries about everything. have fun with it boys. and be careful what you wish for,
I meant more along the lines of on supremacy maps where heavies often don't brace on anything ever. A heavy, aiming down sights mowing down your friends with his unbraced accuracy is completely unaware of your flank, he isn't aiming but you can't get into suicide range because you want more than one kill to help win the point, you open up, he registers the hits, he turns towards you, begins spraying, you fail to kill him and he either drags you down with enough bullets sprayed in your general direction or one of his allies kills you because you are now completely ineffective. It literally just happened to me. I actually ignored the heavy while someone else was engaging him, while I tried to kill his buddy that was backing him up. The heavy bolter killed my ally, then turned around 180 degrees before I could turn 90 degrees and then slaughtered me before I could even train my sights on him after I had downed his friend. It was a little infuriating tbqh. And this was all at engagement ranges of about 5m in the cramped hallway leading up into C point from underground on Medusa Relay.
The spread is nowhere to be found on a supposed heavy weapon and ammo efficiency? plz if with 300+ammo pack you can't do some damages, there is a problem. And due to the rotation speed (often no sync with the animation seen by your opponent) you can 360° no scope if you want. Except melee (obviously) there is no punishment, since if you flank, back them, they can INSTANTLY turn around while aiming and shooting you. When some Tact attack me as a Slaneesh HB, they try to back me, I instantly turn around and take them down. Rotation speed reduction and more spread in movement.
Ya gotta shoot em in the head. Seriously, if you nail them with headshots you can bring down a hb dev or havoc before they can spin their gun up. Bonus points you coordinate with someone else to attack at the same time, and a gold star if you both survive. Class balance in this game should be, in theory, a system of counters based on engagement distance and cover usage. Tactical is your well rounded basic bitch. Heavy counters tactical at medium to long range due to better damage application combined with suppression. Tactical has a much better chance at close range provided he takes the heavy by surprise and aims for the head. Long gun wind up on hip fire means an unprepared heavy will go down before he can even start shooting.
My thoughts? I think you've been killed one too many times by a braced autocannon and you want it nerfed into oblivion. There's counters to every heavy weapon. Counter it if you don't like getting killed by them.....
Orks told people to suck it up and use your head to counter kannon, people cried until it got changed. People complaining heavy weapons might be a tad too good while braced, "lol learn to counter." Edit: Yeah yeah, not as bad. Still find it amusing.
