Should the effectiveness of braced heavy weapons be reduced?

To me, the feel of the game is rapidly becoming stale. Everything in the game feels based upon where the Heavy Weapons are and aren't set up. Yeah, this makes sense on defense, but when every other or every third person on offense is also a Heavy Weapons class, it starts to make you wonder...

Assuming this is actually the case, I started to think about what could be done to resolve the issue. Nerfing the damage would just feel bad as currently it feels about "right"; you know when you're hit by a heavy weapon and you are heavily incentivized to get out of the way! The accuracy of the weapons feels pretty reasonable as well.

The biggest thing that sticks out to me is how exponentially effective HW's become once braced; accuracy is increased probably 3- or 4-fold and recoil is reduce to almost (if not) zero. And it just so happens that one of the two options to counter a braced HW requires another Heavy Weapon!

To me, I think it's a bit ridiculous how any rapid-fire HW effectively becomes a sniper once braced. Yeah, it should definitely get a boost to accuracy and recoil reduction, but it shouldn't be so much that you can unload 3-5 shots on full auto on someone half way across a map and still land most of them.

I very much feel that the state of Heavy Weapons is going to severely damage the pace of the game in the long run if not changed. What are your folks thoughts?

Heavy weapons are in a great spot in terms of balance.

If anything, Eldar ones should be buffed on the move, to better suit their faction theme/TT rules/lore.

Heavy weapons are fine.Sure you see alot in assaults with a certain faction (LSM *cough) but they don't win. They get alot of kills tho sure.

I don't think nerfing heavy weapons is the way to go.See melee are under performing so heavy weapons are raining supreme obviously.Buff melee, jump packs in particular and heavy's are balanced again without making someones favorite class crappy.

I wasn't talking about making it crappy. I was talking about not making Autocannons, Heavy Bolters, etc. Snipers while braced.

Bracing has enough drawbacks already, limited firing arc.cant see anything behind you, cant take cover, your static and easy to snipe etc.

    oh and also this

  7. It took us a really long time to see heavy weapons doing pretty much what you'd expect them to do. I think most Heavy weaps are in a pretty good place. Please do NOT change anything.

Let's not forget that Deploying a heavy weapon leaves the user very vulnerable. Heavy weapons are also easy kills vs most melee opponents.

The counter for a HW is a melee based attack, you get reduced field of vision and you're prone to rush attacks from side/behind. Only the siege wall does it make it initially hard, but then you have flying and melee attackers.

Maybe I'm an above average player then or been very lucky. Most of the time when I've set up, I will kill 5 or 6 people before I even start to have trouble with people getting me. Shit, even melee folks sneaking up on me only beat me about half the time. And when I'm getting 75% of my kills at half-mile ranges where the enemy can't do anything against me... Something feels wrong.
