Honestly? While the game is active, I want there to be no clear indication of a victor. You shouldn't be able to totally lock out factions from the place as long as there are warm bodies pushing buttons to make the murder-machine continue along. Know why? Faction loyalty is an absolute thing here. I'm certainly included here in that camp. Chaos is my main love, and will have the character(s) I put my heart and soul into. They get pushed off a main continent where I hoped to keep fighting and pushing. ....Yay? Yay for you? No, really. Hurrah. Enjoy it. I'm gonna just leave and do something else til Chaos is available again. My fun's over. I don't want that mentality to kick in for anyone. It feels...Wrong, to me.
I think that in the unlikely event that a faction get's pushed off the map, they should get a huge bonus for re-invasion. A faction that holds no territory has every reason to bring the full force of it's fleet to bear on a zone. Orbital strikes, drop pods/landing craft, deep strike teleportation, etc. The turnaround time also needs to be fast, as others said, if people log in and find their favorite faction cooling it's heels in orbit, they'll log out and play something else. Rewards and buffs for successfully invading Arkhona again need to be plentiful too. IF people log in and are consigned to the fleet, they need to at least be excited for the coming invasion enough to martial their resources and NOT log off.
This was the plan from a year ago, so another time, another place Dev. Take it with a grain of warpdust: So under that you'd be able to redirect your efforts to a more strategically advantageous front on the continent. Meanwhile the enemy is holding territory that doesn't provide anything and a front that can't move any further.
