I'm interested to know what people think about having servo skulls and those types in game, after launch of course. I would like to be able to play as one, seriously.
I believe in it as a small piece of equipment that might offer maybe some slow armor repair/health regen sort of buff. Something along those lines. But playing as one directly is either too limited or too broken. One tiny little skull could scope out the movements of entire units without being seen and relay them back to squads. Tactics like ambush and flanking maneuvers would be rendered moot by scout-skulls. A scout is a bigger target, can be seen easier so at least these troop movements will have forewarning sometimes as opposed to just getting annihilated every time because the tiny servo-skull popped in and out of vision range too quick for someone to notice.
Think we already discussed something on this end in one of those pets threads. Anywho, i can see them working the Servo Skulls in as a pricy accessory. It would work really well for those people who want to play a more intel gathering role. Just like the Recon Droid from Battlefront did an awesome job of scoping out the area. Upon activating this accessory your character is rendered motionless and probably looks at a PDA of sorts, and you are transferred into controlling the skull. How it worked in Battlefront: http://social.xfire.com/videos/598805 And while Servo Skulls are automated i think giving them unreliable AI will make them not do their job all to well. Think if they replicate how BF did it they could make their recon role shine.
Nah man I want one of those servo skulls that's carrying around like a big piece of scroll with litanies of hatred on it. Alternatively, boombox.
I think someone said something about a special addition baba ji skull probe. I want that. I think they would add alot of tactical quality to the game, say.. Instead of an iron halo, I get a skull probe, so I have less armor/aura and instead get the ability to target enemies like you would in battlefield, and maybe even be able to see invisible enemies on the map or something.
