So I have been thinking about this idea for a while now. And I have decided to share it. As we all know on TT, Dire Avengers have scoped weapons. However in EC, a scope would be a detriment due to the close range of the weapon. So I was thinking, what if scopes didn't give a zoom for Avengers, but rather increased their range? For example the base scope could be 50lp, and it would increase the damage fall-off range from 12m to 20m? [The numbers here are irrelevant, they are just an example]. Thoughts? P.S. What do you mean by "increased their range"? As in increased accuracy? Actually able to shoot further but keep god awful accuracy at long ranges?

He means increase the damage drop-off range. So if the first damage drop is at 12m, he wants that pushed out to 20m.
No boost in raw dps, but an increase of it's EFFECTIVE range. So basically, you can shoot from further with it. Just like the Prolonged Barrel does with the LSM Bolter. I wouldn't mind, but rather on the barrel slot, indeed. Scopes are supposed to be coming along, so, I guess we'll see them. I still want my SH x2 scope though.
I just think scopes on ASC need to be something other than a zoom. You don't put x2 zoom on an SMG. Then what are your proposals for an alternative? Unless you think a zoom would be good for a melee range SMG.
I don't understand though, if an upgrade is mandatory it isn't an upgrade it's a requirement. This sounds like you'd have to take the scope. The scope should add value but not be overwhelmingly positive or a "required" piece of gear. I'd say increase the damage drop off anyway if DA are struggling then give them increased literal range with a scope add on.
You could increase the cost, to make it an important choice. I'm honestly just seeing what sticks. Because I don't want the devs to give us scopes that no one will use since they gimp the weapon more than help it.
It's the same as the extended barrel for bolters. It's a definite option, but it's not a requirement to be competitive. Scope w/ increased dropoff plus HB mod does sound nice, but I don't see it happening. Maybe though.
