Don't listen to Achaeron to begin with. This game disappoint lots of founders because the project change down the road. EC is a good game to have fun with friends (easy to get some in game and some nice guilds exist). 20$ is a good price if F2P is enjoyable for you. Full game gives you 4 character slot so you can have one of each faction if you want. Actual game meta is range, melee is no good shape but melee lovers are still there (myself to begin with, but there is more). Is a faction OP? Hard to tell between latency problems, netcode issue and personnal taste but read the forum and try to make your own judgment in game. Listen (read chat) and try to obey orders. Few people take time to write, if they did it most certainly thee is something important. Defend/attack point with time bonus first and before anything else (you will polish this strategy with time) and on fortress as attacker you have the duty to bleed your enemy dry as fast as possible. As defender it is attrition war, stay inside if you can, grouped, protect support their heal is your win, help your downed team mate if no healer is there. Have fun!

A visit to commorragh will net you a bunch of stick thin, spandex clad effeminate jerkwads. Basically, eldar BUT EDGY. So Remo was 110% right.
The only thing that could save the game at this point would be a time-travelling intervention by the Immortal Emperor himself and a team of Martian techpriests. Anything less is just prolonging it's death throes. Recruiting more people to a bad game does not fix the fact that the game is bad.
