Remus began to search the outpost, top to bottom, using the keys on every door that wasn't already accessible. Meanwhile some of the "recruited" were forced to begin sowing together large black banners, to drape along the sides of the Outpost. No more hiding in the Dark. The Imperium had left this planet, and it was time to make their presence known.
Icthcyis grunted . There was nothing in this sector for them. He swerved the vehicle taking it off towards the junk yard looking for possible upgrades and more fuel for the chimera
The sound of a thousand marching boots was still audible from where they stood in the alleyway, trying to comprehend the sight that they just saw. "Just were the hell did they come from?" Bruce muttered, his hands still wringing around the handles of his heavy stubber. That was a good question, the uprising long ago was mostly about just the workers and some cults. Not once have they heard of an entire chaos army as strong as this roaming the hive. "Or that weird fracking walker, the warp is that thing?" Barnos mentioned, his brother Rilk nodding in agreement with him. "If anything, it looked like they were heading towards the Communication tower we left, so we're probably not heading back there anytime soon." Shelia theorized, mostly noting the direction the infantry column was marching to. "But...why would they be playing music? Wouldn't they want to move without being at least tracked?" Janice asked, confusion evident in her voice. "It was a display." Solin said simply, everyone looking towards their commander who was still watching through the doorway. "They want people to hear, to see, the power they have. Moving with discipline and purpose that no guardsman on this planet has anymore." He commented, almost bitterly. "Sir, you think that maybe we should....join them?" Shelia questioned, making a guess at what Solin was thinking. After a moment of quiet thinking, he shook his head. "No, not yet at least. The serpent wasn't a solid red, it shared other markings, we keep to our own for now and figure things out. Its now obvious we don't know the powers that work in this hive anymore, being on that wall for so long saw to that. We're continuing finding a pdf barracks or some warehouse, Barnos and Wilk search that body. Can't leave no stone unturned nowadays." he said as the group getting ready to move again using the alleyways while the twins went over to search the body.
"Seth! Keep the group pushing see if we can take some aive or get. Few 'recruits' I am going after this runner who dares leave his flock!" Gunter said as he used the cover his friend provided to charge after this cowardly commissar with shock maul in hand and sawed off in the other he fired once aiming for the commissar's abdomen. "Faithless Coward you will only earn a more painful death! Gunther yelled after the man Seth nodded to Gunther's trusting his friends fury to keep him alive. Looking to there group's situation they had the militiamen pinned and a guardsmen away from the fight using fire. "Time to thin the herd. Cogs! Flush em , Gideon keep up the fire!, Theodas, Rin, Doc! Fire on them if they move from cover!" Seth said barking orders and members responding Doc taking out her auto pistol for better range on the militiamen with Theodas readying for a shot and Rin readying her crossbow. Cogsworth quickly switching to her grenade launcher and firing grenades towards the militia aiming to make them move from cover or get a blast is shrapnel in them. Gideon only responding by keeping up the fire but making a motion that he soon needed to reload. Now to scare them Seth thought to himself as he began drawing from his own power and attempted to put dispair in the heart of the militia enough to either surendar or give up. OOC Gunther chasing after commsiar and firing a round at his chest Seth giving orders and attempting to put dispair in the militias hearts. Liza launing grenades t militiamen area attempting to flush em, others readyting to fire and Gideon continuing firing
Streets are filled with history. Ruins of Eagle, husks of its former glory. Nibbled away by the rats hiding in the shadows, trying just life for another day, without knowledge of tomorrow. No one thinks about tomorrow in Sanctus. It's too distant goal. Next meal, next place to hide, next person to kill. Focusing to trivial task they deny the futility of living in this limbo. If you plan further than hours click, your mind gives in to the truth. Nothing here matters. Gods and Masters have abandoned this hell meant for people. Ken Heklemayer finishes his mid day brooding monologue and swifts his gaze to the loose group of people who call themselves Ouroborous. They all were thinking same. They are insane, willfully acknowledging absurdity of their situation and yet unable to succumb to it. Only possible exception is Celest Heat, a lost child. To her all this is nothing but natural, everyday living. She knows no different. She is blissfully unaware of history. Ken doesn't know why he took her with them, under his wing. Ken does not want to discuss about it with himself. He fears what he might discover, admit of himself. All this nihilist facade is to hide his true feelings. Laugh at face of the Death to ignore your fear. She is no human compared to them, but yet still more humane. She is honest to herself, a beast from others viewpoint. Savage, raised by the rules of anarchy. Everyone has reason to keep her around, seedling of shame, regret, fear they hide inside them just like Ken. It's almost too cruel. "Looks like this residential block is clean." "Yeah, might be worth checking back after sometime to see how that outpost stands." "Star may manage to hold it, they had heavier weapons." "That doesn't mean anything in this hell. Eagle had weapons, Eagle had wealth, Eagle had men." "We'll continue to the industrial block next?" "It'll be more dangerous, it's nearly endless labyrinth of steel and shadows." "It breeds new towns, piles of scrap for the weak to hide and wall themselves out of the rest of the world." "Those events need to be witnessed as well." "It's our destiny." Pragmatic planning. Clear of emotions. Cheating your mind from the truth. One simple task at the time, you'll figure solution to all of this. Just don't think about of this. There is nothing to say. Industrial block is vast, filled with scraps, strong walls. It will always draw people in, even when there is no food or water. They have seen towns inside the industrial blocks before, people herding themselves together to feel more safe behind their scrap walls. Some have gathered under some symbol, some just from need of fellowship. Having rested, the Ouroborous begins their travel towards the industrial block.
@Grall_Stonefist Upon seeing Jurgen rise up from the ground, the Valhallans broke out in cacaphony of whooping and 'Oorahs!'. Jrugen gave a small smile as praise was heaped upon him, but was clearly uncomfortable with all of the attention. Vail kept her cool and gave an approving smile, as was expected of her. Her main focus was on this Avilex and his group of flagellants. She half expected them to turn on her troop the moment the giant Zealot had gone, but impressively they restrained themselves. Or more likely Avilex had them in check. But then parting was anything but amicable as one of them gave an inhuman hiss. She had a feeling the next time they met, it wouldn't go so cordially. "Fare well Redemptionist, and worry not. The Emperor's finest will ensure this planet is reclaimed in his glorious name. As is our duty." Her troops let out another whoop of excitement at that, but were stopped from jeering by a cold stare from their commissar. They may have one, but antagonizing them would only bring further death. Grifen picked up on the cue and began her routine yelling to get them in line as Jurgen approached her. "Well fought there Jurgen, what kind of favor did you have to pull with the big man to get that kind of favor?" She asked giving him a nudge, and as expect the innuendo flew far across his head, giving but a simple shrug. "As the Emperor wills ma'am. Fresh Tanna." And just like that there he pulled out some fresh Tanna. She figured it was best not to ask questions and simply nodded her thanks before turning to the rest of her troop. "Well lads, seems like we won rights to whatever goodies are in here, so get to scrounging! Then we need to move, we have an army to build." OOC: Searching the factory
Hainrich moved through the alleys, unseen by any forces that wished ill on his squad. Today was going oddly well for them in fact, they had found new guardsmen to support them and nobody had been shot yet. It was then that Hainrich nearly stepped out into the street, only barely catching himself before the civilians noticed him. Slinking back into the shadows of the alley Hainrich counted them, eight in total. They seemed soft, much too soft for a place like this and would likely only serve to weight his squad down. It was pure luck that kept these civilians alive and Hainrich did not wish to risk his own men on the whim of chance. Sadly however it was Hainrich's job and he knew so to save these people if he had a chance. Motioning with his hand Hainrich gave orders to his men before rushing on to the street. Las pistol raised at the nearest civilian his squad followed, each of them aiming at one of the civilians, ready to fire if any of them made a move. Boris on the other hand simply revved his chain swords to intimidate those in front of him, his massive armoed form doing most of the work. "Who are you people and why are you sitting out in the open like this?" Hainrich asked simply, glancing around at each of the civilians, waiting for an answer.
[Order of the Abyssal Darkness @Azathoth] The cult wouldn't find anything of true worth it the other rooms besides furniture in a neglected rec room and several bunks in a dusty and dark barracks. The banner the new members were told to stick were made quickly and resembled the best work several partially sentient slaves under the full control of their leader could make. The banners themselves were simple albeit crude looking with the cult's symbol at the center of a black void of cloth.(if you want to describe it more in depth be my guest) With them completed the cultists hung them over the crumbling walls that surrounded the outpost and several larger versions were draped over the outpost building itself. Anyone that had survived in the city long enough knew that such a thing was foolish to do unless you had great power to back up your bold claims of ownership over anything in Sanctus. Already eyes were upon the place as a hood individual was standing in the middle of the road not to far away seemingly sizing up the group that now resides in the outpost. The thralls had not been ordered to shoot anything that didn't pose an immediate threat so they ignored the man and continued on their seemingly random patrols looking out for signs of near by violence and the hooded individual continued to stand in the middle of the road facing in the direction of the outpost. [Emperor's Holy Wrath @Grall_Stonefist] The Redemtionists made their way out of the factory as quickly at the had appeared leaving little trace other than the bodies of feral mutants and the sound of wheezing coming from their zealot who was still having trouble breathing after the powerful punch to the throat delivered by the guardsman with remarkably bad hygiene. His body would recover but his dignity was another matter as they made good distance away from the factory in their search of righteous slaughter in the God Emperor's name. Which they will receive as they came across another group of 8 men dressed in all red heavily customized flak armor who each carried an equally customized lasgun and wore a grotesque mask over their faces depicting some kind of red daemon of various descriptions. The two groups stared one another for a moment before realizing despite the similar color of their clothing they did not serve the same god. "Dogs of the corpse emperor!" One of them shouted as he opened fire with his weapon causing the rest of them to do the same as they moved into cover. The las shots managed to graze the zealot's shoulder as he lacked the oxygen to react quickly enough like the rest of the group who jumped behind whatever cover they could see when one of the other men started shouting. [Enemies] 8X Blood Pact scouts [Wasteland Kings @bossaroo] The merry band of mutants made their way to towards the junk yards on the far western side of the city with little trouble other than keeping the degenerates under control and watching the fuel gauge start to tick downward slightly as the engine consumed what it needed but it would be days before it completely ran out. The sun was now shining proudly in the middle of the sky as morning turned to midday and streaks of sunlight made their way through the shattered windows and kicked in doors of the surrounding warehouses and factories. (You're warband is in transit to the junk yards and you will arrive in two turns since you're headed to the opposite side of the city be warned though just because you're in transit didn't mean someone won't spot you and decide your chimera looks rather nice) [Valhallan 597th @Keidivh] With their small victory over the crazed fanatics completed the guardsmen searched the factory for anything of use. At first they would only find empty rooms looted of any machinery it materials long ago but they would find one of the larger store rooms locked. From the numerous scratches and a distinctly horrible smell it was clear this room was where that brute kept the degenerates when he wasn't home. The door was easy enough to kick down given it the numerous deep scratches all over it. But upon entering the dark room on the other side everyone found the stench to allay be unbearable as the weaker of the group nearly vomited in fact one actually did when he saw what the stench was coming from. Piles upon piles of rotting and diseased gore. Anything from entrails to entire bodies hanged from the ceiling driving blood onto the floor. This is what that brute would have done to them if he wasn't put down by the redemptionists, a cannibal of the worse kind. Worse still something was moving in the back of the room trying to avoid the light. Possibly a surviving degenerate who didn't heed it's masters call or something else entirely. [Warhounds @Vulpas] Gunter's shot barely missed the fleeing commissar as the shot caused him to flinch and almost fall over but he caught himself and continued running with Gunter on his tail. Cogsworth then fired her grenade launcher at the militiamen behind cover forcing them to move but not harming any of them. In fact one of them found the time to shoot her in the chest with his autogun hitting her square in the chest knocking her to the ground. Whether she was just unconscious or dead was for the rest of the warband to find out. Meanwhile the three that were ordered to fire onto the re-positioning militiamen missed for the most part except for Rin who put a crossbow bolt through the throat of one of them causing him to fall to the ground gasping as blood filled his air way drowning him. Unfortunately another well paced shot from a fleeing militia member got Rin in the right shoulder shattering the joint making it impossible for her to use her weapon but at least she was still conscious. It was then Seth attempted to use his powers on the fleeing militiamen trying to put visions of the immaterium into their minds to bring them into submission. However he was not very experienced in going into another's mind and he failed utterly. Instead of the visions going into the minds of his enemies they went into those closest to him, his comrades causing them to fall to the ground grasping at their heads as horrible images beyond normal human understanding flooded their minds. [Enemies] 1x Self Proclaimed Commissar (fleeing will be gone next turn if not stopped) 1x Guardsman (Still held at bay by flames) 7x Militiamen(behind new cover and gathering themselves for counter attack) [Injuries and hinderances] Cogsworth: Shot to the chest currently unconscious and bleeding out Rin: Shot in the shoulder is unable to use any two handed equipment Everyone expect for Gunter(because hes out chasing the commissar) and Seth: Is being force fed horrible images from the warp causing them to fall to their knees and clutch their heads in pain and are unable to do anything for one turn. (ooc the dice did not really like you if you cant tell but this is also a good opportunity to learn how dangerous psyker powers are if you use them recklessly) [Laughing Skulls @BuriasDempsey] The twins would find an assortment of useless trinkets on the corpse of the beggar but when they moved the body slightly they would find that he was actually hiding something behind his back in a small dug out bit of the wall he was leaning on. Upon inspection the hold clearly had something gun shaped inside of it and found that the beggar was hiding a meltagun. How exactly such a lowly person got their hands on something like that was a question for the ages but none the less the small warband had a new and highly effective way of melting things. The search for a warehouse or outpost turned dry however as it seemed that the army they saw had stripped everything clean as they made their was to the tower or maybe they were just in the wrong part of the city to find such things irregardless they didn't find anything else and decided to rest in an empty hab block. [Equipment gained] 1x Meltagun [101st Vostroyan Firstborn Regiment @DeezNuts] One of the civilians looked up from their meal and simply smiled as something under their shirt began to glow a bright blue. "Fool" was the only word that escaped their mouth before a large limb erupted from their chest and their body quickly contorted with rapid mutations a similar process was going on with the rest of the civilians as they contorted and joined into a single being. The resulting blob of mutation and horribleness then quickly bunched up spawning newer even more twisted limbs and appendages as it continued to scream in the voices of the eight civilians. After a few seconds of this eventually the blob formed into a comprehensible shape and started to attack the group of guardsmen. [Enemies] 1x Chaos spawn (Image) (ooc the dice's way of saying that's no way to greet someone I suppose ) [Ouroboros @GoreWrencha] The renegades made their way south to the Industrial district in good time by taking the abandoned roadways. The northern part of the district was unusually quiet at this time of day perhaps because of larger things happening down south in the center or perhaps the local gangs of survivors just didn't feel like participating in the usual violence of midday and were simply enjoying the fact that they made it this far. Irregardless of the reasons the part of the city the warband of renegades chose to travel in was somewhat peaceful baring the distance thuds of artillery coming from the wastes or the cracking of autogun fire coming from deeper in the city. [Derraesh's Reavers @Maleth] The plan was thrown into action as the wytchs and wrack joined by Derraesh leaped from their cover and began scaling the wall by jumping from hood to hood and dancing around gun fire to reach the mutants. The two warriors did their jobs exceedingly well not only keeping the mutants pined but also managing to kill two of them mutants that were out in the open too long. The scourge also did her own job at keeping the abomination at bay her shots causing the creature to convulse with pain and keep out of striking distance. [Enemies] 12x Mutants 1x Gigantic Abomination
From their position of immediate cover, Avilex was both thrilled and displeased at the, thrilled since some proper redeeming might finally get started. Displeased since he couldn't give his full attention into making Thane regret his massive failure. "Pontius suppressing fire, keep them down. Robertus flank right, burn them out to the open. Lenia flank left, wait for the right moment, conserve ammo. PENITENTS, REDEEM THYSELVES, AND YOU." Avilex said as he grappled Thane and pulled him close staring rage filled at his supposed zealot, "you better prove your worth or i will make you regret ever having a soul" he said before pushing him away, uncaring of any the mans pains. As the group moved to do as told, Avilex himself drew his weapons. moving out of cover in his own fulminating glory. "YOUR SAVIORS HAVE ARRIVED OH LOST CHILDREN, ACCEPT YOUR REDEMPTION AND BE PURE" Avilex thundered as he raised his handcannon in anticipation of a good shot upon their foes.
Vail had seen some horrific things in her short time in the Guard. Funny considering how hard she tried to avoid such situations. She had seen the twisted horrors of a Genestealer cult, the horror of fighting Orks in close combat tearing men apart with their bare hands. Even the horrors of Chaos. And this room had nearly made her expel her breakfast. If a single strip of old jerky could count as such a thing. Yet she managed to hold her stomach in check, forcing instead a dark grimace on her face as she surveyed the carnage Griffin, Jinxie and Ranald had the same expressions, although there was evident fear in them. Ellen and Kolbe were made of weaker stuff it seemed, as they heaved at the very sight of it. Only Jurgen seemed unfazed, looking over the blood and bodies with mild disinterest before turning to her, believing she'd know what to do. "What happened here Commissar? Was Cha... The Great Enemy here?" Griffin asked with a wavering voice, clutching her lasgun close. "No Corporal. This the Redemptionists. Mad dogs that kill and torture all in their path. They have lost sight of the Emperor, killing heretic and faithful alike." She tightened the grip around her chainsword to look fierce as she continued. "The next time we encounter those zealots, we will show them the Emperor's true justice." Of course she didn't intend to run into those freaks again until she had a few chimeras to run them over with. But it put some fire into her men, Ranald loading his lasgun in anticipation. "I'm with you on that one boss." Of course things could never be that simple, and right when they were about to leave the gore room Jinxie piped up. "Commissar, ma'am! I saw something!" Within a second weapons were up and ready, pointing into the dim blood soaked room. And once more, she couldn't back away. They were expecting the valiant commissar to lead them in. But she wouldn't do it without some protection. "Griffin, have the squad ready to open fire. Kolbe, Ellen, riot shields up. We're moving in." Vail took a few steps into the room, Kolbe and Ellen at her side holding their shields close, waiting for the mysterious shadowman. ""This is Commissar Vail of the Valhallan 597th. Show yourself now, if you are faithful you have nothing to fear. The Redemptionists are gone."
