Sanctorum Arcaneum Chaotica (chaos Sorcerer Discussion Thread)

Discussion in 'Chaos Space Marines' started by Mygnal-Wyrm-Blessed, Nov 4, 2013.

  1. Greetings fellow Sorcerers of Chaos! As a Sorcerer Lord, I noticed that there was no sanctum where we magi might gather free from the wrath of Khorne's warriors, the peeping eyes of the Inquisition, or the meddling of the foul Eldar; so I've taken one of my handy corrupted STCs to set up a temporary sorcerer's tower. My library may not be as vast as the infamous Black Library that has consumed the desires of our brother Ahriman, or the legendary libraries of Prospero, but it shall suffice until the crusade can begin. My knowledge is your knowledge.

I created this thread for players who like sorcerers and who anticipate playing primarily as them can discuss news, rumors, and what they want out of the class.

I've always been a lover of mage characters and 40k's sorcerers of chaos are no different for me. My expectations for this class. I want to be able to customize my Sorcerer with elaborate headdresses, flowing robes inscribed with mystical runes of protection, tomes of eldritch lore kept handy at my side, a spell fammiliar daemon follower, etc. I want to be able to shoot bolts of cackling lightning out of my fingers, throw fireballs that can knock back a terminator and leave an impact mark on the ground, cast a whirlwind of chaotic energy causing mass mutation and corruption, send out a beam of molten energy that melts through tank armor. Most of all, I want to feel and be powerful without feeling overpowered. What do you want out of being a sorcerer?

You need to update your Avatar, young one.

Bolt of Tzeentch, Disk of Tzeentch, Fire of Tzeentch, Tzeentch of Tzeentch... just make it all Tzeentch...

    Tzeentch...
  3. Indeed. My sorcerer armor is currently being repainted by a heretek armorer. Soon my avatar shall reflect my true nature.

Edit: Another thing I forgot is that I'd like to be able to choose between a force sword and a force staff. I'd like to think perhaps using a staff would boost my spells, or perhaps reduce my chances of suffering perils of the Warp whenever I cast a spell...

I think I did a thread like this, but what the hell. Lets make more threads, devs will see us eventually.

I want powers that lead to strategy, like telepathy to see my enemies thoughts. Or Divination to see what they are going to do next/

lol I'm all for seeing into the future and reading minds... but I think reality may become a problem in the actual game mechanic for those wishes...

I can see how telepathy could work by letting the player see the other teams personal chat. Divination by giving you a map of enemy activities. Also Divination can be used for small things, like dodging bullets!

The devs are going to have to keep a delicate balance between what is fun, what works for the lore, and what is functional. Ultimately, I think the chaos will probably have a sorcerer class or something resembling that. Also, I wonder if you will be able to dedicate yourself to a specific God.

I'd like to see the sorcerer able to fulfill multiple roles. Some buffing/healing would be nice but ultimately the powers should be combat oriented. Both kinds of space marines are first and foremost tools of war and their training/experience reflects this. I suppose that chaos sorcerers could have access to a wider breadth of powers that are inherently more dangerous to use as well as being more powerful. After all they are closer to the warp.
  9. Yoo's neva said anyfing about da orks poppin up! But seriously, I could see the sorcerers being very adaptable depending on power selection. I think they'll most commonly be heavy support (with bolt of tzeench and such) or more general support (giving squad buffs). They wouldn't have to worry about ammo but maybe more powerful stuff has a longer casting time and/or long cool down. They could do some neat fast attack if they can use teleportation (pop up behind a tank or squad leader, zapp him and pop back).
Just thought of something maybe the risk is being interrupted while casting, causing perils if you get stabbed or shot when you're pulling energies from the warp. It would mean a bit more tactical thinking depending on your spell selection. It would be hilarious to see a sorcerer explode or a bunch of deamons showing up and start murdering everything.
Well that's my two cents. Now back to dah WAAAGH!
  10. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

I think sorcs should be implemented into this game and id very much like to play one for Tzeentch but ima play my zerker first =P
