There are about 300 left after their last fight with the nids is what I heard last, they are not all dead yet. And I assume that they wouldn't even be hard to create in game, just give them the imperial fist yellow with blood angel decorations and the checkered shoulder pad on there left.

I kinda skimmed the article (sorry) but it doesn't seem to explain liquid flame as an option. I could easily have missed it. Anyway why can't the animation just be a solid fire graphic via liquid based propulsion with a preset graphic. Just make the fire a solid object that picks from something like 30 preset images for after burn (kinda like how valve does fire). That way it isn't as graphically intense as a gas based animation with transparency but works more like a more visually updated fire flower projectile from mario
And for many of us that's ok. The problem there is a human one, you and I are alright with that, but other people will lambaste that decision. I feel very confident saying if EC had started with a flamer using bad graphics, a lot of people would have complained with statements like "this is 20XX the graphics should be better" and other things like that (which they already do). It's a safer bet for marketing to not include an option than to include a scaled down version. There's also what role flamers would fill. I can think of several, but none of those couldn't be achieved with a unique weapon variant, and you're bringing in a mob clearing weapon for a game of elites. It's not a stumbling block so much as a validation, do we need the flamer over other things? For an actual opinion- I am pro-Salamanders, and I am also pro-flamer. But I can understand not prioritizing those things over other issues and content.
