I know the idea of these weapons being different aside from skins were knocked about early on but I never did understand where we ended up on this. Is it: A: RTS weapons have no difference to their non-RTS counterparts but lack mod slots. Or B: RTS weapons will have built in mods that make them better than the base version of that weapon without mods but inferior to the same base version when equipped with mods equivalent to those on the RTS version. If anyone knows more than this please comment below. And if it is A, could we please get some customization options on them? Even if it's a cross between them like a Sternguard bolter that can't remove its drum magazine or the like but can still change its muzzle. Why take the nice gold bolter or the amazing Widowmaker bolter when they're not as good as the standard bolter with mods? Edit: Seems I was unclear. I was asking if the current plan for the RTS weapons at launch was A or B. I wasn't asking what people's opinions of how it should be. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
There should really be a C option, theyre not worse, theyre not better, theyre just pre-modded and unable to be changed, so for some people theyll fit the playstyle perfectly, for others, they would want to stick with modding a base weapon to better suit them. Think of the Battle-Rifle bolter as a good example, its accurate, scoped, and locked into burst fire, for someone who enjoys that then its a great modded weapon, and therefore "better" but if someone wanted something different, they could take the base bolter, maybe put a better scope on it, then add whatever other mods they wanted to customize it to their "better" weapon. EDIT: Widowmaker has mods attached, box magazine, something on the barrel, and well see what other special effects/ammunition it carries, plus it just looks awesome.
I think there should be a couple more options on your poll lol 3) skins with slots ... chuck the premods out the window and just look cool 4) skins with some slots .... premod one or two slots and leave the others empty for the player to choose
I think they should have a couple pre-modded slots but still allow you some room for customization. That way they have their own stats, but aren't completely static or OP. And at the same time they're more than skins. Even though they'll technically just be skins because the same stat effects can be achieved with vanilla mods. For example the Umbra Ferrox comes pre-equipped with a box magazine and a scope, so you can still pick your own barrel and maybe it requires you to have a scope but you can choose the magnefication. So neither A or B, I don't like either idea.
If we're talking ammunition effects I vote screaming bolts that create a cumulative suppression effect. Like the HB.
Uhm... why not just make the RTS weapons be the same as their non-skinned regular ones, considering they're simple skins... You're literally saying that people that want to look good must be punished...
That still operates on the assumption that it must be A or B, I'm not entirely sure what the actual plan is, but what I said is how I think it should be. A is what it is now, not sure if B is what they want, it may be
