---Off Topic--- Read these: State of the Crusade IV - The Road to Open World. State of the Crusade V - Territory Control and Deployment. Eternal Crusade is going to start smaller than originally planned then up the scale as the technology to do it best and better is evolved. I've heard some say that Heroes & Generals has a similar territory style though I haven't played that so I can't say. Things could open up sooner than anticipated too. There was this said, it's not confirmed yet however as it still needs brain power, testing and tech wizardry. "- we think we found a way to start off with territories containing 3 outposts, the strongold, the campaign aspect and so forth, all as one open world, each even as big as 16x16KM if we deem that fun. Then we have multiple territories as before. You will see us attempt to do that in closed alpha or beta." - said here by Nathan Richardsson (Oveur; Senior Producer and cool guy with a mighty beard) As with most Nathan updates he says more further in the thread. Such as to emphasize it's not confirmed yet, "We don't know yet, so I'll say same for now just to keep us grounded here, we're still setting up and testing. But I think it'll be more fun still. Defending the territory means you need to spread out etc. and with a territory being open already, I think the upcoming expansions post-launch are more likely to include bikes, flyers etc. than earlier than before. They have more of a purpose. But this is all friendly speculation. I'm throwing you guys a bone and being transparent. But sharing good hopeful news should be good. Hopefully. I'm not sure i wanna play this game if its not open world tbh. Couldnt care less that i havent gotten in yet with my warrior pack because its all instanced atm. But if it wont even be open world at launch ..... Is this what some of you payed 88.80 euro's for ? or more? ....
When Space Marine first came out on xbox 360, I got really character as a Salamander. During one match I played with someone who was a Raven Guard. We were so into the game that we were shouting litanys of fury through our mics at the chaos space marines. It was really fun to portray a space marine and soon we had multiple people on each side doing it. I guess it was sort of role playing, at least as much as you could in a shooter. If EC created lobby rooms for people to just stand and show off their new setups and such while deciding to search for a map, that might be as mucb as we got. I'd love to rp an Eldar but sadly I don't really see this game getting that kind of community. From all I hoped compared to all I've learned, it went from a MMO to an FPS. I know they plan on expanding the worlds but it sounds like we are getting Battlefield 4 with 40k lore so far.
I will be screaming in Ork speak via the mic so does that count? I hope enemy players will be able to hear it to, because I intend to say some nasty stuff llol
Planetside 2 with Warhammer 40k lore basically. And I'm completely fine with that. Planetside 2 had no strong lore behind it. W40k does. So I'm pretty sure people (at least at the first years) will be more than eager to roleplay in battle. But this will remain a style of Planetside 2 - a grand scale Shooter, not a roleplaying game (that EC never strived to become).

Ok yes,it will not be Skyrim but hey skyrim was about a nation,here we're talking about continents.... Edit:i forgot the main topic XD going back to the topic,I personally will RP a Chaplain of the Imperial Fists,and whoever will try to stop me will die or be put in ignore,depends on the individual and i think if you search a bit the RP forums you'll find open friendly guilds
There is not one Warhammer 40k RPG game out there, not one. I'm surprised the Devs for Eternal Crusade didn't put this on their agenda to make EC stick out more. I'll enjoy this Planet Side 2 style but I was looking forward to this game having RPG element in it for your character, like Mass Effect or SW old Republic style. Where you have missions, small clips of showing your character talking etc, the decisions you do are Good or Bad will have consequences in other missions like for example turning Chaos.
