I would say that the problem with the ork tool isn't so much that it's less orky than the space marine tool (dirty syringes are actually an iconic weapon for doks) but rather that the ork tool just looks uninspired. That it's just an ork version of a Narthecium, rather than something an ork would actually use.
I guess you really have to look at the purposes of the weapons. the SM narthecium is designed to cut through armour, then black carapace, then flesh then bone to get through to the tasty organ inside. Hence a lot more blades and a lot more blood. The dok weapon though has a specific purpose as well. 'I want to get my fightn' juice into that big armoured ork, how will I get my needled into that big armoured irk? I know, strap a drill to it. It is less of an all purpose surgical tool that the narthecium is and more specific in use. Hence because the drill is more about the armour than anything else, explains the lack of blood. The flashiness of all the weapons coming out so far for orks I am putting down to Fresh Out of the MechShop.
I would have to say the drill looks far too...precise to be an Ork weapon. Maybe a few more gubbinz, but it just feels....off too. A bit too dainty as another poster on the first page said, for sure, but something else about it.... maybe it needs a couple of skulls (real wunz! From da pree vee us patientz of curz) on the top to finish it up along with a size increase.
However lame it may be, it would still suck to be on the receiving end on that thing. If the dok ever tries to treat you with that, you're gonna get drill'd. Ouch. Still, a saw would fit much better for a dok, incase he has to cut someone open. I feel like adding more spikey bitz might help, especially on the drill part. Also make the drill wobbly looking and warped, so when it spins it looks like it's about to fly off. The problem with creating something unique with orks is that, well, they're orks. For space marines it's easy, all you gotta do is put some purity seals, maybe make it gold and bam, you're done! But with orks, you'd have to really go overboard to make something stand out. Toof choppas? Meh, I bet loads of feral boyz and Snakebites have em. Drill syringes? My local dok has a syringe shoota, with choppas attached to it.
I have to agree with you on that the drill needs more gubbunz and needs to look wobbly. I agree that the drill uv life doesn't need to be as powerful as the narethecium due to it only needing to punch through ork skin which is really tough seeing as it can take bolt gun rounds and shrug them off. It would nice to have more gubbunz though. I don't have any problems with the other weapons except the heart stoppa I don't like that gun and the Powa rippa is a bit wonky
