I'd prefer that when the normal match ends, the losing team would get to order a Thunderhawk (Or equivalent), then the losing team would have to do their last stand on the landing zone, struggling to stay alive until their transport arrives in about 1-2mins. Survivors get extra points etc.
A lack of content did not make titanfall work less. It has only one multiplayer mode for full price, which is outragous, but that one mode worked and was fun. Let´s throw shit at games for the right reasons. Titanfall is a giant fail in business management not in mechanics. Titanfall had a super fast parcour system. Thats why the extraction part never got dull. The problem is we don´t have any like this in EC. I´m not 100% sure that would be fun with slowwalking space marines.
Yeah... That made me giggle more than I'd like to admit. Back to the topic... Ehm. I don't think this whole "there's no glory in pointless defeat! Now run like chickens to extraction!" idea fits that well in EC. Especially with some loss in global resources and stuff like that... I remember when devs released that Stronghold map and Space Marines had this last point left on top (it's where D point is currently is) (I think loyalists were defending, yes? no? Don't remember the name of the map, sorry...). Would it be cool if in last seconds of a match a thunderhawk comes down to pick last defenders? Yeah. It would be pretty damn cool. But I would not like to see some silly message in EC "RETREAT NOW" and then run away to some extraction point... The biggest reason to that is... It was fun retreating in Titanfall, because of parkour. It won't be fun in EC, cus... no parkour. Plus we had no crazy flying assaults in Titanfall... I'd rather fight a titan in Titanfall with my bare hands than torture myself with melee in EC.
If I was in charge of an EC squad or whatever, there'd be no retreat. Id have a heavy bolter in the back making sure that if anyone tries to retreat, the heavy bolter will gun them down
Just do what planetside does. Keep the game going for 5 mins of overtime, remove the griefing barriers, when you die you're kicked from the server and into a new game.
Several Unforgiven chapters and the Imperial Fists never give up their ground or redeploy even when it's a tactically sound decision. Just how those chapters work.
