I point blank asked Brent the other day in Discord Chat if dodging the stun portion of a Dbash after a clang was intended and he said yes. So I must apologize and make a retraction about calling others cheaters about people using the apprently intended feature of dodging my Dbash stun after they clang off of me. I do not agree with this design decision and think it completely invalidates the RPS system to a hilarious degree, but that is a separate matter. I will also note Orks still cannot do it almost at all, so now it's moved from "People are abusing an exploit to cheating levels" to "Oh look, another thing Orks are worse at than every other faction in the game...time to add it to the list" Regardless, sorry for calling you people cheaters. My bad.
Fuck apologising - make a thread highlighting your disgust that yet again we are the only faction unable to do this shit!
It's total bullshit. I honestly thought it was just latency making it seem like folk were dodging out of stuns. Getting confirmation that it's intended behaviour is a bit of a stinker. If it's any consolation, I don't believe I've ever managed to do it on Eldar, so I think it's pretty rare with us too. Some of our more dedicated Banshee and Hawk players (which are the only two Eldar Aspects I've ever heard anyone complain of this behaviour from) might be better placed to say how easily they manage. @Asheru @IdranelLives Any thoughts?
I've had all manner of eldar do it to me with just as much reliability as any marine. Perhaps eldar can't do it vs marines either though. So basically all 3 races can abuse orks, both marines can abuse eldar and marines can abuse each other. I always own up to it when I'm wrong, and I was. Has nothing to do weather it should be like it is or not.
JPA's dodging your D-Bash and then knocking your teeth out with their dodge attack. Rinse-repeat for easy kill. Epic! Good system! Much fun! Wow! Whoever decided this was a good design decision is wearing clown makeup right now.
Meh. The same thing happens when I heavy attack into a dbash that has already been initiated, with a slow weapon. My heavy attack is stunned by the boot. It doesn't actually count as a connecting heavy attack until the final swing, much like a dbash doesn't count as a stunning attack until the final kick. You can have the wind-up of a dbash stunning light attacks the same day the windup from my heavy attack interrupts dbashes.
I think the way that works is you can get stunned before you start swinging, but if the swing is in motion, you'll plow through. Of course lag complicates interpreting it properly sometimes, but I believe that's the intention
Wait... So being able to get out of stun from a successful dbash (by spamming dodge) is an intentional feature?!? Doesn't that totally negate the purpose of the RPS system? If I throw out paper and my opponent puts out rock then technically paper covers rock....but with this system the player that put out rock just hits you in the face! What's the point of stun if a player can just get out of it without any ill effects? ....I'm confused.
I think its a good desing decisions. Becaus nothing enoys more then beeing stuned or out of control. And we all know the default melee fight : Attacker : Fast attack Defender : DBash Spam Attacker dead (if stunned) 2nd scenario : both are swinging and hoping around like crazy chickens. No one hits really. Some one from outside shoots in the melee fight. DEAD Thats very borring. I try to avoid melee as much as possible.
