Alright, who are these imposters and what has happened to the hyper-protective IP tyrants that we know as GW ? :D

Joking aside I hope it is given due consideration in-house, there are some lore names that should be protected imo even if GW has conceded all/most ground. No it isn't game-breaking to copy-paste entire 40k army and character names (lazy as all hell and lame to boot) but it isn't unreasonable to set some limits either.

  2. I don't think the issue is a legal one in terms of GW approval, but a moral one.

I'm not personally happy with any guild earmarking the name of their entire chapter/legion/craftworld, etc. for themselves. Or, worse, pre-emptively sitting on other chapters that may be included further down the line (e.g. An Imperial Fists chapter filled with Dark Angels, and remaining so when the actual Imperial Fists are implemented into the game).

Taking Space Marines as an example, all of the players coming in as Ultramarines are Ultramarines, so why should one guild be able to claim that name exclusively for themselves?

I'm less concerned with second founding chapters and other breakaways, as there is currently no realistic expectation of them being included, and you have to enter in the colours of the first founding legions in any case.

In the end it all comes down to how you are as a person. I'd much rather play with a proppa Ork named xXxGitHunterxXx, that plays like a Boss and likes to get drunk with the clan on Teamspeak than somebody that continously quotes the Codex Astartes and is full of himself. You know the lore inside out, have written 5 A4s on how you became a Smurf and spent 1000s of Euros on your Warhammer 40k-army? Have a fucking cookie.

Main names like Chapters/etc shouldn't be allowed. Nicknames is a bit sketchy (like the Sons of Sanguinus) but aren't as deal breaking like seeing a bunch of chaos running around as "Ultramarines" for example... (unless they're alpha legion, then it's @^^!# hilarious!)

This feels like a topic that might be brought to a vote either here or in the Founder's forum (Design Council or EC's version of that). You can't make everyone happy but still nobody likes the extremist opinions on this issue and Tornadium's summation of names that should be a no-go are pretty common sense to all except the unimaginative and diehards :p

What evs, staked a position, anymore debate from me would be clutter.

i don't get it either. Why poeple come up with the idea that a chapter name is a good guild name o_O
I can't understand something like this.

  9. .... Wow really?

So a group of 10 people can claim the name of the entire chapter? One that is in the game and people will be playing?

    That's just insane.

  10. That's retarded.

Like literally, why on earth would it be first come first server on a major chapter name? I don't want them at all but really if they're going to be allowed why on earth would it be first come first serve? That is quite possibly the worst thing I can think of.

So if an Eldar clan claim the name of a random posterboy chapter it will be also ok right? first to come first to serve
